How to keep protein drinks cold

Recommended Posts

Because Protein drinks will be consumed slowly after surgery, I’d like to find out what y’all used to keep your protein drinks cold while you sipped, sipped, & sipped some more. They taste so much better cold!

A thermos works for keeping things hot or cold. I loved my small thermos though I used it to keep my Soup hot (my surgery was in winter). I got it from Kmart. (500ml bottle of Water for size comparison.)

For ready-to-drink shakes, I use something similar to this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0089M2EEG

They used to have one for 12-ounce cans (regular soda cans), and that's what I use, but it has been discontinued. Too bad -- it's the perfect size for a Premier Protein/Equate shake. I'm not sure if a Premier Protein would fit in the one linked above.

I also have some of these:

https://www.amazon.com/The-Fridge-Drink-Cooler-Lifoam/dp/B0019KFB7M

These are great for cans, but not as good as the Vacu Vin for Premier Protein/Equate shakes because the shakes are kind of square-shaped and don't fit snugly.

For Protein Powder, I just mix a small amount at a time so it doesn't get warm before I finish drinking it.

I use a Yeti cup and it keeps it cold for about an hour.

Personally, I bought some 2 ounce cups off Amazon. I keep my Premier Protein in the fridge and just fill the two ounce cup when Im ready for more. I havent gone back to work yet, But I have a fridge in my office, so I will keep that stocked up too.

Thanks for the idea. I have a small dorm fridge my daughter used when she was in college that I can put behind my desk in my home office. I'll go ahead and put it there before my surgery in a few weeks so I can keep my shakes cold throughout the day. I like the Premier Protein shakes and stocked up from costco. I also have Unjury powder, though that's not as tasty. We'll see what I like after surgery.

I guess I never noticed if my shake became room temperature, but if I HAD to keep it cold for palatability, I would use a Yeti or similar.

I'd simply use the Emsa coffee mugs I keep my coffee or tea hot in. No leakage at all. Just throw them in your backpack.

It's either the Travel Mug Classic or the Travel Mug Classic Grande. I usually use the big one for tea only.

Thank you for the suggestions, everyone! I’m meant to respond earlier but surgery is 3 days away & I’m cleaning my house like a mad woman! 😂

I also don't like room temp/warm Protein Drinks. it usually takes me about an hour to drink an 11-12oz shake. a hydro flask or yeti or basically any insulted tumbler will keep it cool for at least an hour. I have multiple ones now because I use them so often. a lot of times i put my shake in the freezer for 10-15 min before I pour it in my tumbler.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
