Oh how exciting! I am packing a neck pillow. It might be too hard to lay down so I usually use a neck pillow to sleep with sitting up. Pack you flip fops, face wash, lotion and your own tooth brush and paste. Hope you have a fast recovery and give a update :)

Good morning. I haven't gone through the surgery yet but I wanted to wish you the best of luck! Congrats!

personally, I'd just bring your phone and a charger. And maybe a pillow to put over your stomach on the ride home. Wear baggy clothes when you go - and you can wear them home, too. Maybe a clean pair of undies. The hospital will have everything you need (hospital gown, non-skid socks - I think mine even gave me a disposal toothbrush and a small tube of toothpaste to use). A lot of us just end up sleeping most of the time we're there.

some people bring Biotin mouth spray - so I did as well - but I don't think I used it. I pretty much just slept....

Phone, charger, and chapstick was pretty much all I needed! You will basically sleep for 18 hours, then it will be time to go home! LOL!!

Gas x.. they will want you to walk, but I was too dizzy to get out of bed, and the hospital claimed they didn’t have any.. and a small pillow/ stuffed animal to hold at your side when you cough, sneeze, pass gas etc!

I strongly suggest a pillow to hold over your stomach for the ride home!

I didn't need anything but my toothbrush/toothpaste, phone and charger. I didn't need gas x or PJ's, pillows or blankets or a change of clothes. You can go home in what you wore to the hospital. They give you non slip socks so you don't need slippers either. I did bring a book but too tired to read.

I brought a robe, long socks and my laptop!! No one else was allowed in my room because of CoVid so I was all by myself for HOURS... the laptop helped so much!

Man y’all did a thorough job packing. I went with a cellphone charger, lip balm and cellphone. I stayed for 36ish hours which I slept most of it away.

I've had 3 surgeries in the last 2 yrs and it didn't matter what I packed I didn't need anything other than my phone and a long charger. My current surgery, I'm 9 days post -op from my first round of plastic surgery, I took comfortable jammies to wear home because I didn't want to wear them into the hospital. The hospital provided everything I needed. I only spent one night for my RNY and hip replacement but 2 nights for my plastics which consisted of brachioplasty, and 360 lower body lift- butt lift with fat transfer, abdominoplasty (I didn't need muscle tightening), panniculectomy and monsplasty.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
