crazy8 1 Posted December 2, 2007 My question is I have been extremely hungry and am dying for meat. I haven't ate any, don't even know if I could. But I'm soo hungry. I have been eating mashed potatoes dulited down with chicken broth. They told me anything that I can suck thru a straw is acceptable. But I did manage to eat a few crackers. I chewed extremely well and I didn't have a problem getting or keeping them down. But now I'm scared that I messed up something. I really need some advice about this. I have lost 20lbs. since Nov. 16th but I'm just soooooo hungry. Please help!!!!:help:
hungryforchange 0 Posted December 2, 2007 I was banded on the same day as you and am also very hungry. I would not suggest that you eat meat or crackers. I am on liquid diet for 4 weeks to make sure that the band heals. Try to choose liquids with high Protein content or add some Protein Powder to broth, etc. That seems to be helping me with my hunger. BarbBee 1 Posted December 2, 2007 Hi Crazy, We are band date twins! Maybe a Protein Drink would help fill you up blended with a quarter or half of a frozen banana? ? I know Protein does help keep you full and also helps with your healing. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Take care Barb
Kristin1031 0 Posted December 2, 2007 A straw? hmmmmmmmmm I was told to stay away from straws....and carbination......be careful it can cause gas. FF refried Beans with salsa shredded low fat cheese and cottage cheese on top instead of sour creme is AWESOME!! I have been living on the stuff for the last two weeks. Scrambled eggs with shredded cheese is also a great choice. Unfortuantely there are not that many choices at this time, unless you do as Longhorn and puree regular food and eat it. I have a Magic Bullet and I make my chicken salad and tuna salad in it and it is awesome. Anything you eat right now should be high Protein that will help with energy as well as feeling of fullness longer. My diet calls from two Protein shakes per day for the first three months. So that is all the advice I can give. Hope it helps.
ladybug3 0 Posted December 2, 2007 Once I was on full liquids and able to have more Protein it got a lot better. Now I just have to deal with head hunger! I have a Protein shake in the morning. I add Protein powder to practically everything I eat, which is all Soups at this point. I like Tomato Soup with milk and protein powder. One thing I'm really liking is canned chicken and cooked brocolli blended with the chicken Soup unjury and Water with just a tad of cream of chicken soup so it's not quite so runny. I've also added saueted mushrooms to it for more flavor. I eat about a third of a cup and I'm full for hours! I have a magic bullet too, which I love, love, love, so I just make several servings and keep it in the fridge. If you're still on Clear Liquids, try the Isopure drink. It's a little tough to get down, but it has lots of protein in it. But if you can have mashed potatoes, you're probably on full liquids. Add protein powder to the potatoes so they stick with you more. Or put unflavored protein powder in any blended soup. I also have these packets from GNC that are a drink mix like Crystal light but have 10 grams of protein. Those are nice for when I don't want to eat, but am feeling a little hungry. I'm personally not big on sweet things like some of the shake recipes, but I know other people like them. There are a couple of threads on here with some recipes that I've tried and liked. I've also found 0 calorie flavored waters to be a big help for me in getting my Water in, since I really don't like plain water. Good luck!
