Intense Sliming--Need Advice

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I know the answer to my problem is simple--I'm too tight. I will call my doc Monday morning but for now I need some advice.

I'm a year and a half out but haven't had restriction until my last fill two weeks ago. I can hardly eat or drink...not because the food wants to come back but because I cannot stop sliming.

(This is gross, I'm sorry. So, don't continue if you've got a weak stomach...)

The slime is just outrageous...more like clear, thick mucus and A LOT of it. I only have to open my mouth sometimes for gobs of it to pop out. Does this make sense to anyone else? I've slimed before when something has gotten stuck but not this thick mucus stuff. My stomach aches so badly too when this is happening.

Is this normal for those of you who know what "too tight" feels like? Or, do you think something else is going on?? Also, is there any tricks out there for helping to thin out the slime? I have almost choked on this gross stuff several times. HELP!! I've got to make it til Monday before I can call for an unfill. THANKS FOR ANY SUPPORT OR IDEAS!

hi!

Are you able to drink enough Water? Drinking the right amount of water each day can help thin the mucus out some. I would assume that this might help some until you can get an adjustment. Try to get enough water down to stay hydrated. I'm not banded yet so I'm not sure about the being too tight problem you are having. When I get sick I produce a lot of thick mucus and getting enough water in me to thin it out always helps. Hope it helps you. Sorry you are having problems but I'm sure your Dr. will be able to help you get it under control. Good luck with everything!

I experience the same thing you do...on a daily basis. But I don't think it's because of being too restricted.

-restricted...sure. But eat tiny...even almost microscopic bites. Take one...walk away. Come back and take another..and walk away.

This is what I've done and well, I'm very please with the results. I've changed my habits as I don't inhale my food nor do I finish first now.

If you don't want to slime anymore, as you didn't mention vomiting/convulsion like vomiting, go for an unfill..so you only need a tad..as slight unfill.

Since this change started after your fill, I would guess they will want to remove a tiny amount.

From what I have read, and this happens to me, your body makes the mucous getting yourself ready to PB. Seeing you are not eating anything there is NOTHING to come up.

I think you need an unfill.....You should be able to hold down liquids...I am afraid you will become dehyrated.

Oh, BTW, congrats. on your HUGE weight loss...you are doing FANTASTIC!!!!.

Good Work.

I am having the same problem right now. I am too tight and if I want to eat I can only have a few bites at a time.I am hoping once i lose a couple more pounds it will loosen up a bit. If not i will have to get a slight unfill. The slime, when it happens , tells me i ate too much, too fast, again.I really wish i could learn to slow down. I think that is my biggest problem. Donna

Thanks everyone for your advice and input. I cannot wait to call the doc tomorrow to ask for a small unfill. I hope I didn't wait too long and cause any complications.

You all hit it right on the head...I'm hungry but just can't physically eat...ANYTHING. Just a bite or two then the pains and sliming start. I'm thinking I was too tight after this last fill two weeks ago but I was trying to hang tough and see if it losened but now my I think my poor belly is just sore and swollen now and a combo of a slight unfill and a few days of liquids should get me back in working order. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks again...LBT to the rescue yet again!

I'm back for a final post...my doctor gave me an unfill this morning and I FEEL SOOOOO MUCH BETTER! No more sliming--Yippee!

I was at 12cc in a VG band and he took about 3/4 of a CC out and what a difference! Thanks for all of your help and support!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
