Julie1292 9 Posted August 25, 2020 I am 3 weeks post RYN conversion from sleeve for bile reflux and a large hiatal hernia repair. I am down 10 pounds, and I happy about that but honestly I have lost that (or more) on Weight Watchers eating 1,800 calories. I am averaging 600-650 calories. Getting 64 grams of Protein. Basically sugar free, getting my Water and walks.... am I over reacting, or does 10 pounds seem kind slow....?
catwoman7 11,220 Posted August 25, 2020 most normal WLS patients lose 15-25 lbs the first month, so yes, 10 lbs in the first three weeks is fine. Of course, there are outliers on either side of that range, but just from my own observation from hanging around these another boards for the last 5-7 years, that seems to be a pretty normal range. I think people sometimes have a skewed perception because of shows like "My 600 lb Life", but you have to keep in mind that those folks start out WAY heavier than most of us do. as long as your weight is gradually trending down, you're good. I lost 16 lbs during the first month (and I started out more than 100 lbs more than you, and I lost all of my excess weight - so you're fine!
Arabesque 7,416 Posted August 26, 2020 10lbs is pretty common as Catwoman7 said. I lost about 13lbs in the first three weeks (but I wouldn’t have been hitting 400 calories a day - not hungry & struggled to eat much that first month or so). I slowed after that first month. Some weeks you may lose a little more, others less. Then there’ll be weeks you don’t lose at all. It’s all part of the process. Good luck on your journey.
