How many oz/cups on week 4?

Hello all.

I'm on week 4.

How many oz or cups were you guys on at week 4?

My instructions still say 2 TBSP per meal, 3 meals a day. I find this sort of unsustainable at this point, and have noticed most other programs are a bit higher in intake. I feel this is important because my body actually loses more weight with a bit more food. I also don't particularly care for the dietician I have, so I'd welcome anecdotal evidence.

And did you guys eat soft/cooked veggies at this point? I can tell my body is lacking in nutrients and would really like to start incorporating veggies with my Protein in small amounts.

Thanks all.

I was eating about 1/4 to 1/3 a cup just depending on how I was feeling until into about month 3. Eat slowly, get your Protein in first & listen to your body - it will tell you when you’ve had enough. Don’t push it. You are still healing.

I didn’t try vegetables until I was on solid foods so around weeks 5 & 6. I love my vegetables but found that I did not enjoy the taste of many of my favourites. Steamed cabbage & cauliflower was all I could tolerate for ages. Carrots, onions & celery were ok if cooked down in a stew. I didn’t eat them often to begin because I couldn’t fit them in after I’d eaten my protein.

Are you taking your Vitamins. This is really important.

I'm 5 weeks out and eating 2 to 3 ounces per meal (3 meals per day). I'm still eating mostly purees, but I have recently started adding 1/2 ounce of shredded canned chicken to some of my meals. My program says I can eat up to 1/2 cup (4 ounces) at a time, but I stick with 2 to 3 ounces unless I'm eating Soup (and then I have 4 ounces). I think 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) is lower than most programs for 4 weeks out.

I am allowed to have soft veggies, but I am very cautious because I don't want to eat anything that makes me sick. The only veggie I've had so far is mashed cauliflower. I also eat pureed black bean soup that has carrots in it.

My surgery was a sleeve and my aim according to my food guidelines was 1/2 cup volume six times a day, initially I couldn't consume a 1/2 cup and certainly not six time a day. Most it was three or fours times a day.

These were the guidelines given to me as well at around the month mark.

(Though I was probably eating maybe 1/4 cup only 2-3 times a day in reality at the 1 month mark)

Also, I was cleared for all food (as tolerated) at 1 month.

I was told 1/2 cup at a time. If it's something like yogurt, I can eat a whole half cup, but most other food I can eat 2 to 3 ounces at a time. I'm on week 5 and I can eat about 2 ounces of fish, or about 3 shrimp. I love veggies but I usually and full by the time I get to them. I am supposed to have 3 meals and one snack a day.

I am 4 wks out today. I can manage 3 Tablespoons 4 times a day(there is no way I can do the 6). I also average 48-54 oz fluids daily. Dr. Matin told me to chew good, listen to what my pouch was telling me, everybody is different, and your pouch will react differently to different foods. Are you on a Multivitamin yet?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
