Marchies In December

Recommended Posts

My fills are done on an empty stomach, so first thing in the morning is when I schedule them....

I just take it easy with mushies for the day and the day after.

Mine doc does them between 1 and 2. My appt seems to always be 1:20 and nothing to eat 1 hour before hand. I try and eat something light for lunch that day because I know that I have to get on the scale and am working for every oz I can get.

Well, here I sit, 4 lbs from my Christmas goal of 180 and for some reason my ankle is killing me. I didn’t twist it, bang it, stretch it or bruise it, it just hurts like hell to walk on it. I have no idea what the heck is wrong. I am still going to push for my goal, but decided it will not be the end of the world if I don’t make it right on Christmas day. I found myself getting almost depressed about not being 180 by Christmas and had to started reminding myself about all the great things that have happened to me since I’ve been banded. Like I am off all my diabetic meds, my knees don’t snap/crackle/pop when I walk, my back isn’t killing me, I have gone from a snug 22 to a snug 14 and I can walk up stairs without breathing hard. Best of all, I feel good about myself, granted I am still overweight, but now I know that this too shall pass. The weight is coming off, albeit slower then I would like, but it is coming off. I am trying to remind myself that the numbers on the scale are secondary to the health benefit that I have already achieved. Now if I do make 180 by Christmas, I am going to be very excited and my fellow Marchies will be the first to know, but if I don’t make it right on that day, it’s ok, the key is knowing that I AM GOING TO MAKE IT.

I forgot to add that I am 1 lb over half way. I didn’t want to edit because they haven’t gotten that fixed yet. So 51 gone and 49 to go.

Mrs H.

Congratulations on being more than half wayt there!!!!!!!Great accomplishment!!!!

You know not to let the numbers control your mood. Easier said than done I realize, but let me say it again...:)

And yeah, I have a spring in my step when the scale moves down and I pout when it holds steady or moves up a pound or two...but really look how far you've come in 2007. Don't let three little pounds color just how successful you are.

XO.

J

I'm new here and still trying to catch up on past messages. But, the last messages have summoned up a few things. Like trying to reach a certain weight by X-Mas as well. But most of all before and after fills. I too usually go late in the afternoon. My next appt. in 12 noon. So, I better set up my meals for the balance of the day.

I haven't reached any restriction with a fill yet. I'm hopeing this one will do it. So, at times I feel like I'm dieting with the band and doing quite well.

Also, glad for all that I've lost thus far. And like how I look.

So, everyone have a restful evening and nite.

Ok guys, I have to say, I finally broke the 5 month plateau! Do you think something was wrong!!!!!! I guess I thought I was at the right fill level but my doc gave me a fill of .25cc's and that did the trick. Down 3 lbs in 1 week. I can work with that!

I am having the worst time with the fill amount. I think I am driving my doctor crazy.

I seem to be on this every 2 1/2 week fill/unfill routine. I have a 4 cc band. 2 cc's has me hacking up slime all over the place, literally.

With 2 cc's I am pretty much on mushies and liquids.

When I drop down to 1.7 cc I can eat most anything.

I seriously need like 1.8.5 cc's.

Rosi, you could not have said it better. I am so glued to that darn scale. I can not believe how I can go for weeks at the exact same number. Before I had the lapband I would fluate several pounds over the week, not now.

I am just so thankful I have my Lapband going into these holidays.

Toodles,

Jmcambra - 3 lbs down!! Hot Dang!! I am so happy for you. You have been busting your butt and you do deserve it.

Janine - I am at a point where at times I can eat way too much, but on other days, I get stuck on tuna. I don't know if I want another fill or not. I don't want to push it. I hope you get to a good restriction and quit haveing to "yo-yo" fill.

OHJuli - I don't know how I missed it, but are you over 100 lbs down?? Holy carp!! Way to go!!

Thanks Mrs. H.

I hope and dream that I'll see my goal next year. The weight loss is slowing though to about 5 pounds a month....

Hey Janine, nice to hear from you.

Glad to hear you've broken that plateau jmcambra.

5 lbs of loss sounds good to me OH juli,

From Sept to Nov I lost 4 lbs and the Dr. thought that was great...I however was dissappointed.

I've been gaining and losing the same 4 lbs for months. I'm not going to deprive myself this holiday season, but not gonna over do it either. I do have a little more restriction with my .25 fill on Monday.

But the Cookies still go down without a problem....damn!

Everyone have Happy Holidays and hope you can spend it with the ones you love...Merry Christmas

I'm thinking i may need another fill.... but i think ill just kick up the exercise and see how it goes... I'm scheduled for a fill on January 23rd so i don't really want to reschedule... but now if i'm still having a difficult time in a week or two i will.. but ill see when i get there...

But don't mind me if im a little all over the place; its the hydrocodone my oral surgeon put me on for pain.... because i had an abscessed tooth called a phoenix abscess.. and with my luck the damn pus went into the soft cheek tissue.. so they had to drain it but cutting the gum.. But it is feeling better the only part that sucks now is that I'm on augmentin for the next week which means no Eggnog on Christmas.... Oh well its probably for the best since those things have a shit load of cals ...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
