Prerequisites Completed!

Recommended Posts

Good Evening Everyone!

I have been on the road to this place my entire life. I am so happy that I finished all the prerequisites and am now awaiting insurance approval before my date is set. I came close to getting the surgery two times before but fear took over and I didn't follow through. THIS TIME IS DIFFERENT. I am nervous but also excited. I feel like Covid has kind of put my life into a focus that was never there before. Its weird though because I am the happiest I have ever been in my life and can't wait to see how much happier I can get with the weight loss that will come after the surgery. What are some of the biggest changes you have noticed in your life? What makes you happy? What makes you sad? What is something unexpected that came of you making this huge change? Curious what this community is all about. Excited to see your replies. Hope everyone has a great evening!

Woo Hoo!! I remember the excitement of having all my pre-surgery clearances done. I think I got my surgery date about 3 weeks after that! It's been a whirlwind of goodness, and I hope it is the same for you!!

Finishing prerequisites is a huge accomplishment! Congrats 🎉

Biggest change for me was taking an honest critical look at my diet and now that I don't have to focus on my weight being "the problem", I realized what would make me happy is having $ 3B and conversely not having $ 3B makes me sad.

An unexpected revelation is my new found deep appreciation for elective/cosmetic/plastic surgeries

It's amazing how you work and work to get approval and how looooong it seems to take. But then you get that phone call with your date--BAM!! it's here! Einstein was right about time....

I finished all my pre-rec appointments last Friday! On Monday I was notified that everything was submitted to insurance and Thursday (yesterday) I found I was approved and got assigned an official surgery date: 9/28! They offered a much earlier surgery date but I'm going to be out of town. The longest wait has officially started ....!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
