Just had mine done on the 14th. 54 year old male that has never been in hospital before and I can tell you that I was dreading it. Nervous was an understatement.

5 days on im wondering why I put myself through so much stress and sleepless nights!

I had excruciating pain the 1st day but by the 3rd day I have the odd twinge but nothing that I wasn't prepared for. I'm now pain free at day 5 and have been walking 3 or 4 miles each day.

My future is looking so optimistic now that I truly feel blessed.

I cannot believe the struggle I've had for the last 35 years is finally over.

I'm looking forward to wearing some of my smaller and now retro clothes lol

Stay positive as its all worth it in the end.

Your post resonates so much with me. First of all, I'm so sorry you had so much pain in the beginning. But now you are walking 3-4 miles a day??? That's incredible. I have so much energy, too now after an extremely successful surgery. I never stop moving. Its kinda weird. I wonder if anyone else felt like this? My ex even said are you ok? Lol, I'm like yes, I've never been happier in my LIFE. I totally 100% spent over 28 years in misery as well. I'm 49. I would never give up two things in my life this experience and coming to believe in God many years ago. Both of them have been incredible. Blessed? Absolutely! Way to go!

Good luck tomorrow.

The surgery went fine and I am walking as much as I can. I was in a bit of pain yesterday afternoon, but by later in the evening, I started to feel a lot better. Looking forward to getting a good night's sleep and heading home tomorrow

Much the same as mine then.

Post Op now by a week and now walking upto 5 miles a day.

Feel great and cannot believe how well I actually feel.

food is no longer a care as I have just been to the supermarket with the Missus. Picked up all the bad food and old lifestyle foods, looked at them and smiled and then put them back. Feel quite proud of that.

I cant finish a cup of tea at present as I'm full after only 1/2.

Well done for you to take the plunge i am sure you won't regret this journey.

sleep is important and now I am determined to sleep a little earlier and wake up and then walk.

Life has changed for the better for all of us.

Congratulations again to you. Just take it easy and do as much or little as you feel like.

Yeah sleep is a biggie now. Being a week out I haven't had much of a chance to nap with 3 kids at home, but I have been going to bed earlier so I can get a good nights rest. I'm also back in the office today so we'll see how that goes.

My surgery is tomorrow. Waiting for that call to let me know what time to check-in. Conversion to a bypass from vsg and this time around I’m a lot more nervous!

Good luck with the office. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you....don't over do it.

Enjoy the journey

For the most part its a desk job. The only tricky part is that a decent amount of the time I'm in an area where food / drinks aren't allowed so I will need to take frequent breaks to go drink something. I'm about 3 hours in so far though and no major problems yet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
