I'm not a picky eater, except when it comes to how food looks. I can't eat it if it looks gross, and purees look gross! I'm doing pretty good today. Tomorrow I get to advance my diet. I can have shrimp and tofu which I'm super excited about! Don't worry too much about the drain, it comes out pretty fast and then it's a relief! STLoser 1,099 Posted August 20, 2020 I'm on week 5, which is semi-solid foods. I'm really looking forward to next week, because I can have lettuce and frozen veggies! Sent from my moto g(6) using BariatricPal mobile app
Minxpetite 3 Posted August 22, 2020 Lettuce, veggies, shrimp, and tofu...I'm so happy for you---and I'm super eager to join you outside the puree stage. It feels good though. Hopeful. How are your friends and family reacting?
STLoser 1,099 Posted August 23, 2020 Yes, those are all some of my favorite foods and I'm happy to be at this stage now! You'll be here before you know it! It has gone by fast!I haven't been seeing a lot of people thanks to Covid, but the reactions have been positive with my best friend, and my mom and husband are completely supportive. My mom is thrilled for me because she knows how much I've struggled to lose weight most of my life, and my husband has been with me at 240 pounds when he met me to 393 at my highest. He's been very helpful since surgery and I'm lucky to have him. And my 9 year old son has been too!How are you feeling? And how are your friends and family reacting? STLoser 1,099 Posted August 23, 2020 I forgot to add, I've had shrimp and it went down well. So far, I've tolerated all the new foods I've tried, which is a relief! Sent from my moto g(6) using BariatricPal mobile app
Minxpetite 3 Posted August 26, 2020 My partner and family have been extremely supportive -- I feel lucky in that. I was touched that members of my bariatric team came to visit me in the hospital too. My recovery has been going well. I still like the same Soups and I'm grateful not to have huge cravings. It's challenging to ingest even enough liquids to get my Proteins in though, but I expect that to get better with time as I heal. I'm really looking forward to when I can satisfy my Protein needs through my food. It's an interesting and hopeful time ... like I'm having to figure out how my body works again. STLoser 1,099 Posted August 26, 2020 I'm glad you have good support. That is so important!I had visits from my bariatric team also while I was in the hospital and it was nice. I really felt my hospital experience was great. It gets easier and easier with getting Protein. I'm struggling a little now that I'm eating more solid food because I just can't eat enough to get all the protein. I'm just trying to have more frequent smaller meals for now. We'll get through it! Minxpetite 3 Posted August 26, 2020 Can you give an example of what a day with more frequent, smaller meals looks like? It seems like my meals can't get much smaller.
STLoser 1,099 Posted August 27, 2020 Can you give an example of what a day with more frequent, smaller meals looks like? It seems like my meals can't get much smaller.OK, so today, I had a scrambled egg for Breakfast with a teaspoon of reduced fat cheddar. lunch was 2 thin slices of deli ham and an ounce of havarti cheese. I only ate a little bit of the ham because I'm just not a lunch meat person. I ate the cheese.I had a Greek yogurt as a snack later. dinner was Ahi tuna and a mix of potatoes, squash and carrots. I ate 2 ounces of tuna and a couple bites of carrots and squash and a bite of potatoes. Most days I have either an egg or yogurt for breakfast, a tuna pouch for lunch, and dinner is usually fish and a veggie. I can hardly ever get to the veggies. Tonight was unusual, but I really love squash and carrots and I think I overate and ate too fast because I felt too full. I'm still learning this new anatomy.I am still having trouble getting enough Protein since I can't eat much, so I usually have a Fair Life Core Protein Shake a couple hours after dinner.I will say I'm experiencing what I think is hunger, but it great that it takes so little to satisfy it!I used to get hangry and I'd always eat til I was stuffed. It's a miracle to me to eat so little and be satisfied! Sent from my moto g(6) using BariatricPal mobile app
