amypel 7 Posted August 14, 2020 Hello! I am 20 months post op and lost over 100 lbs. I make my own Salad Dressing and have it every day. I also track everything on the Baritastic app. How can I get the nutritional value of something homemade?
BigSue 1,392 Posted August 14, 2020 I highly recommend the MyFitnessPal app. It has a huge database of foods with nutrition information. For almost anything that has a barcode, you can scan the barcode and it will have the nutrition information. It also has stuff without barcodes (like fruits, vegetables, meats, etc.). You can build recipes with multiple ingredients and it will calculate the nutrition information per serving.

With the Baritastic app, I've just input the individual ingredients of the recipe I've made and then used the "Create Meal" button to save it to the app. For a Salad Dressing, I'd say the easiest thing to do would be to make 10 ounces worth of it, input the ingredients and the amounts you used to make the 10 ounces of dressing, save it as a Meal, and then when you use it, just select it from the My Meals tab. If you used 1 ounce of dressing, then select ".1" as the quantity (.2 for 2 ounces, etc.). It's a bit of work up front, but once it's done it goes so much faster. 2 WishMeSmaller and Bari_KS reacted to this
