I am 8 years post-op. I have lost over 200 lbs. I have had no issues with my surgery until approximately 6 weeks ago. Now on a daily basis I am throwing up about 80% of what I eat. PCP can not find anything wrong. Ive done blood work, cat scans etc. There is no pain just horrible nausea & throwing up. Can anyone give me an idea as to what the issue may be? Thank you for reading.

You need to see a gastroenterologist. That could be a stricture or scar tissue build up. Can you reach out to your bariatric surgeon first? They probably know who to send you to. Your pcp is not the right person to see.

yes - sounds like you might need to see a specialist. They'll probably do a scope to see what's up.

Pre-surgery I had sleep apnea and Acid Reflux but had no idea what they were. I kept going to my PCP and she kept referring me to specialists like ENT and ordering all kinds of tests. Perhaps I wasn't explaining my symptoms correctly but I was so frustrated. Finally, I used my own common sense and asked for a referral to a gastroenterologist. I cried when he told me that he could fix my problem which was GERD. I won't go into the whole history of GERD surgery and diagnosis for sleep apnea because my point is that a lot of time can be wasted not going to the specialist to begin with. I understand about necessary referrals but sometimes you just have to ask for what you want or need. In other words, sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns. Through this situation, I have learned that often I am just looking for validation. We know our bodies and we know when something is off, waiting for someone to tell us it is off can make things worse. Anxiety can make your symptoms worse so the sooner the better I would think. I applaud you for reaching out.

All this being said, my dentist correctly diagnosed my sleep apnea. LOL

Dentist are trained to recognize that because they make special mouth pieces that you can wear instead of use cpap ☺️

Thank you for all of your advice. I have been diagnosed with an ulcer. But now I am fighting the insurance company because they will not pay for the meds I need. So I am not really sure what I will be doing just yet.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
