I’m 14 months out and down to 165lbs, 110lbs of weight loss. My boyfriend and I have been trying to conceive with no luck and it’s time for me to become more proactive and take prenatal Vitamins. Any recommendations?

When is the best time to start taking a prenatal Vitamin? Much earlier than you think! If you're wondering when to start prenatal Vitamins, you might be surprised. The ideal time to start a prenatal supplement is actually 3 months prior to conception. Here’s why you should start taking prenatals before pregnancy:

    1. Your eggs develop 90 days before they are released, and healthy eggs are key to a healthy pregnancy. It’s important that your body has quality nutrients to pull from during this phase.
    2. Virtually no one gets a nutritionally perfect diet every day. A prenatal vitamin is a good backup in case you’re not reaching your optimal daily intake of pre-pregnancy nutrients.
    3. Taking vitamins before TTC may reduce the risk of preterm birth. Researchers at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill found that taking vitamins prior to conception reduced the risk of preterm birth by about one half in a group of about 2,000 women.
    4. Folate supports the earliest, most critical stages of fetal development. The baby’s neural tube (its brain and spine) develop within the first month of pregnancy, sometimes before you even know you’re pregnant. By the time you get that first positive test, you should already be regularly consuming folate. MTHR folate, which is what we use in our prenatals, is preferable to folic acid for its bioavailability.
    5. Prenatal vitamins contain DHA, which is a type of omega-3 fatty acid that can help your baby’s health once you get pregnant. Omega-3 fatty acids also help improve cervical mucus quality (which is necessary for sperm to reach the egg), help promote an ideal balance of reproductive hormones, and help improve egg quality.
    6. Taking prenatal vitamins prior to conception has been shown reduce the chance of irregularities such as neural tube defects, heart defects, limb deformities, and cleft palate, according to research published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada.
    7. A prenatal can ensure adequate Iron stores. Women who are pregnant need twice the amount of iron. The iron in prenatal vitamins makes hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying component of red blood cells. This keeps oxygen flowing to your body’s tissues and organs, and it also prevents iron-deficiency anemia, which can be common in early pregnancy.
    8. Some of us don’t get enough Vitamin D, especially during the winter season. You need Vitamin D to grow your baby’s bones and keep yours strong. Vitamin D is also linked to higher live birth rates among women undergoing fertility treatments and lower risk of a first trimester miscarriage.

As you can see, there are many benefits of prenatal vitamins before pregnancy! We may be biased, but we love our easy to swallow Prenatal Pills. They’re an innovative capsule within a capsule, designed with time-release technology to ensure optimal absorption of nutrients in their most bio-available forms. Potentially stomach-upsetting ingredients, such as Folate and Iron, are in the small inner capsule to be released later in the digestive tract where they will be more readily absorbed and avoid nausea and Constipation. Meanwhile, liquid ingredients such as DHA are in the outer capsule since they’re best absorbed earlier.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
