What should I expect?

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for surgery 8/26, covid pushed my surgery date. What should i Wear post op to go home? Do they give blood thinners to everyone? Is a belly binder good to wear post op? I have so many questions. They just keep popping up in my head.

I couldn’t tolerate anything around my waist. Not painful just uncomfortable. I used to roll down the waistbands of my pants to under the incision wounds. So maybe a loose dress for when you go home.

I know a few people on this forum have used tummy binders but I didn’t & neither did my friends who had sleeve surgery. I don’t know if you’d really need one for a laparoscopic surgery but ask your surgeon what they recommend.

Funnily, I used to find it soothing to gently hold my hand over my belly. My friend said she did too. Don’t know why.

I recommend you wear whatever is easiest to put on and makes you feel comfortable. Wear whatever you would wear at home. I wore shorts and a T shirt on my way out. Good luck, I wish you the best possible outcome and a quick recovery.

I wore a loose-fitting t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants into surgery. Most of your time in the hospital will be spent wearing a gown and not much else. Walked out wearing the same clothing I went in with, save a fresh pair of undies. I didn't use a belly binder, but I found that the incision lowest on my stomach (where its hanging the most) has been the slowest to heal up.

Just bring what ever you want to wear loose sweats - I personally as a guy jumped into a pair of cut of sweat pants and a loose shirt. Its game time after surgery and walking the halls is the key. so you most likely do not want your ass hanging out so comfy loose clothes.

As for the waist thing i say no f'in way - I do not think you want compression or anything pushing on your belly

The binder moved around when I walked and it opened an incision so be careful.

I wore baggy clothes. It's been several years, but I think it was sweat pants and an oversized t-shirt. You want something that's easy to put on and take off and is super comfortable.

no binder here. Some people have them, but I think most don't.

I can't remember if I had the blood thinning shots with my RNY or not (I know I did with my plastic surgery). If just had them in the hospital, though - I didn't have to do them at home.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
