Always feeling sick

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am four weeks out and feel sick all the time. I have never gotten in my liquids or Proteins because everytime I drink or eat I get a cramping in my stomach. The thought of more Protein Shakes make me nauseous. At this point I cant stand anything with a sweet taste. My stomach really cramps at night. I have had problems w Constipation but now take Miralax. I had gone to the er for fluids last week also. I'm really trying not to regret this surgery but I'm sick of feeling like this!!! Can anyone provide any insight?

I would say a majority of us struggle with Constipation, so that part is normal, but the rest of this isn't. Dehydration can make you feel like crap (and can also contribute to the constipation), so part of it may be due to that. Have you called your surgeon? Having stomach cramps to the point where you can't eat or drink doesn't sound normal - I would call and see what they say.

I have read that some people develop an intolerance to dairy after surgery. That might be the problem, but I agree with catwoman - I would definitely call the surgeon's office and get professional advice.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
