Christmas Gift Surgery!

Recommended Posts

Hello All!!! Greetings from beautiful, cold Ohio!

I will have my surgery on December 27th, and I can't wait!!!!

Just like many others.. I've been on diets all my life. I loose weight, then I start to feel hungry, and just want to feel full...and one thing leads to another.. then I figure that it's just not worth a diet.

I'm an elementary school teacher, and will be banded over Christmas break... and haven't told anyone about the surgery. I can't wait for my Gift of a new start... Health!!!

I need to loose 80 pounds to reach my goal. I'm rather big boned.. *yeah.. I know what you are thinking... but I am .. really**

Anyway.. I've been reading many posts, and soooo much has been helpful. My husband and I even discuss some of the posts.

Keep all that great information coming..

Big Huggs to everyone!

You'll do great and you'll love Dr. C.

I just adore him and wouldn't trust my band with anyone else. I was self pay so I have lots invested, over 20k's cash so far and he's topnotch.

I have lost 80 the first year and need to loose another 40 so you'll be at goal in no time.

Hugs,

Sherri

Wow, beachgirl. 80 pounds is fantastic! I know you both look and feel like a million bucks. I can not wait until I can make that statement...80 pounds lost.

I am scheduled for banding on Jan 24, 2008. I wish I could do it tomorrow, but Jan 2008 is better for me.

I need to lose 115 pounds.

Jazzywoman, you and I are in the same boat. I, too, am looking to my band as a Christmas gift to myself (even though I will received the band one full month after Christmas).

I see this band as one of the best things I will have done for myself.

2008 promises to be an exciting and POUND-LOSING year for me.

LOL!!!

Hello All,

I'm here in Delaware by way of New York .

I just joined the website, but I have been "listening in" for awhile. My date is scheduled for Dec. 19th., two days before my birthday and I can't wait. I have tried so many other diets also, and have lost, but re-gained what I lost and then some. Hopefully, this will be what I needed. I have a lot to lose but I will take it one day at a time.

Hey Jazzy! I'm getting banded on the 27th also! Wasn't sure if there would be too many of us on that date considering it's a Saturday. Merry Christmas to us and an EXCITING NEW YEAR AHEAD!!! WOOHOO!!!! only 2 weeks out, I can't believe it. :rolleyes2: Are you doing a pre-op diet?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
