Three Weeks Today!!

Recommended Posts

I can't believe how well I feel compared to just a week ago......It is amazing!!

Still no hunger.....I am so blessed!! I think I might be one of the lucky ones who won't need a fill right away!! I can only hope. I am terrified of getting my first fill.....because of all the stories I have heard here....LOL

I am definately feeling the weight come off....I can tell and I feel so much better, just by eating healthy.

How is everyone else doing that was banded on the 9th?

HI Kristin! I'm actually the 8th, and I agree. I'm not really hungry - although I wouldn't say NO hunger. I am able to eat about a cup of food and that does the trick. It didn't take long after surgery for me to feel like my old self again - but better. I am so happy for this change in my life. :biggrin1:

Hi Melanie sounds like things are going really good for you as well. I am very pleased with my decision for my band. I have no regrets at this point. It has helped me rethink food and too actually put things in my mouth that are healthy for me.

I agree with a poster here that I never had the problems eating what they tell you too in a diet, it is the portions I have always had problems with.......I think the success for me will be that 3 ounces of food actually fills me up....:hungry:

I think we are all doing great. I need to start walking more and it is so cold here that I have not been getting outside. I have been dragging my feet going to the club to walk on the track because I so want to get back in the pool.......and I know that is no excuse. I will be glad when my 10 days are up so I can go back to working out. I have my next Dr visit on the 11th.

I have not been weighing so I have no idea how much wieght is off since my last visit which was the 16th of Nov.

Hats off to us though guys.......we are sailing along.

:whoo:

Kristin:

We have so much in common! I, too, can stick to just about any diet as far as WHAT to eat but it's the HOW MUCH that would get me. I would just feel so deprived if I had this *tiny* amount of food on my plate and I would feel hungry all the time. I could control it for awhile, even long enough to lose some weight. But then the weight loss would stall (for weeks, not just days) and I would give up. Or, on the few times that I reached my goal, I would go back to eating what I thought was normal and gain the weight, even when I was exercising and trying my darndest not to gain. I now realize that after you've lost weight, *normal* isn't normal any more. My husband and daughters can eat twice what I eat and I would still gain. But I couldn't face a life of being hungry and/or deprived on the new *normal* for me.

This is why I believe the band is working for me and will continue to work. When I can eat almost anything I want but in just a couple of bites and not be hungry and not feel deprived and then be rewarded by losing weight or eventually maintaining -- that's a dream come true! It felt so good Thursday night to eat four fried cheese sticks and feel as if I had had a great meal! I wasn't stuffed but I didn't feel like I wanted or needed any more food!

My doctor wants me to eat three meals a day with no snacking but frankly, I don't think snacking will hurt me because a 100-calorie sugar free pudding does the trick and I'm satisfied until the next meal. In the past, that just wasn't the case -- a "snack" could turn into two hours of grazing and then it was time for the next meal. I almost always made good choices and I never binged. I even kept track of what I ate and rarely exceeded 1600-1800 calories in a day, which was supposed to be a deficit of at least 600 calories, not counting what I burned through exercise. But I either stayed the same or gained. Between my age and my history of dieting, I realize that I can't lose weight on that many calories. My body won't be "fooled" again. :girl_hug:

Lomghorn you are right everything you stated is true for me as well. My Dr also has said no snacking in between meals......I am not snakcing on anything....but I do have V-8 juice......it is yummy and it gives me some much needed Vitamins.

I ate one fish stick the other night and a small teasponful of mashed potatoes and was full.....LOL My one year old grandson is eating more than I am....:girl_hug:

I would never have believe in my wildiest imagination that I would be staisfied on this small amount of food had you told me.

I was worried about it, but no more, I no that I can continue with the program and the weight will come off with it.

Hugz and congrats to you on your success up to this point!!

Hi all

I got banded on Nov. 12; I did great on liquid I lost 25lbs. It's been two weeks since I been on puree, I lost 1 1/2 lbs last week but this week I gain it back. I am so disappointed in myself. I am a night eater, after work I snack, low call stuff, but I snack up until 8 pm. Is it normal to gain a bit after liquid? How can you optimize weight loss while on puree.

i would say it is probably normal, bur as i was banded only 3 days before you not sure. i lost 25 lbs in 4 days, then held for a bit, switched to diet v8 splash, watching carbs, and now i am 308 from 343, for 35 lbs lost since nov 9 surgery.

Marie,

My Dr told me it is normal to gain a little when you start eating mushies but once your body adjusts you will start losing again. The same is true when you start eating "regular" food again. Your metabolism will adjust and then the weight will come off. You are doing great! Be patient!

Well it is four weeks tomorrow and I am truly feeling like my old self for sure.....just with less fat....LOL

I see the Dr on Tuesday so will update what I have lost then. I am guessing around 20 pounds.

I suppose I should be thrilled with that........:) and I am. I have been eating mushies now for three weeks and I am truly getting tired of them. I will begin to change my diet on Monday by adding regular food back in to my diet.

I am nervous about this.....I tried to eat some mushy veggies and they got stuck......it was very uncomfortable.

I know I have restriction.....I can feel it when I drink liquid it is like a funnel feeling. I can honestly say I still have no major hunger. ALthough my stomach growls like crazy when it is time to eat again.

Othere than that I am sticking to the program and anxious to get back to working out.

:clap2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
