I had a 2-week pre-op diet. The first week was 3 Protein Shakes plus one frozen meal under 350 calories (no rice or pasta) per day. The second week was 4 Protein shakes per day, no solid food. I was also allowed to have Water and other calorie-free beverages, broth, and up to 2 servings of sugar-free Jello or popsicles per day.

For the sleeve, two weeks prior, two Protein Shakes and one meal for dinner. A 4oz Protein and up to 2 cups of non starchy veggies. Day before surgery all liquids. I don't know how I did it but I did!

they're kind of all across the board. Some people don't even have one at all!

some people are allowed one small meal a day

I was one of the unlucky ones who had two weeks of liquids only. I could drink all the Water and no- or very-low cal beverages (like Crystal Light) that I wanted, 4-5 Protein Shakes a day, unlimited sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello, and a limited amount of broth and V8 or Tomato juice (I think it might have been just a cup of each)

My diet is very similar to yours. I can have seven Premier Protein drinks a day, one popsicle, 2 sugar free Jello, 2 8 oz servings of broth. The I have like 40 calories left that I can spend on the above. No going over 1200 calories.

There is no "the" pre-op diet, as different surgeons and programs have different requirements for different reasons. Programs will vary from nothing at all, other than the usual day before surgery thing, to a couple weeks or more of only liquids, and everything in between. I have seen some that go for six months on only prescribed liquid products (go figure....)

This is a good thing to establish early on (ask questions at the information seminar!) as it can be a factor in deciding one program from another - one may have a particularly tortuous program (or require one to buy expensive products from the doctor) while another may be very simple and short. It can also have implications on the surgery and post op recovery times.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
