Anyone is welcome to go with us to Mexico for fills. Dr. Aceves, he is about 50 miles west of Yuma. We go as a group and have fun while we are in Mexico. He'll fill people he did not band.

Looking for a doc in the Yuma area willing to take other docs patients

and insurance.

I refuse to pay for a fill when my insurance company will do it for me.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

How much is your copay? The reason I ask is if it is a hefty copay or if it would be cheaper than driving Dr. Aceves is 55 miles west of you and he's $80 for a fill with Fluoro.

No co-pay!

But I will only be there for about 5 months, this year.

I would like to meet up with you. You do live in Yuma?

I'm a new lapbander, going for my first fill in three days.

Nope, I'm in Phoenix but I know there are several banded folks in Yuma.

If you can't find a fill doc in reasonable driving distance Dr. A is a great choice. Probably the cheapest you'll find for cash pay if you have to go that route.

Dr Aceves also does his fills with fluoro. Don't know if that makes a difference to you.

Hey, Francine. I lived in Gig Harbor for 30 years, and now divide my time between Arizona and Washington. Glad to see another Pierce County area person on here.

Francine... Snowbird has a favorite restaurant in Mexicali too! They serve her favorite chicken! ;o)

(sorry, private joke!)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
