Waiting to see some scale mivemeny

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery July 8,2020 here in the USA. I then went to Water, broths right after til the 13th then I'm on the liquid diet now. Sadly I have gained weight 8lbs.

I know I am salt sensitive and they used a saline on me but that's a lot of water weight!

I have been walking as much as possible givin the weakness I have had since surgery. About 2k steps to 3k per day plus planting flowers some yard things. Fluids are 64 oz or better and have gotten in 80 grams of Protein everyday Vitamins are happening. I'm keeping positive though that results will happen, maybe it's a body shock and it thinks hybernation mode.maybe because I'm 49 idk.

I think I am just reading everyone's story here on how much weight they lost in the 1st month and I feel like I'm dragging.

Also looking for a support group in Everett, wa or someone that I can hang with to walk.

Ty for reading my stuff.

Everyone will tell you they pump you full of air and gas for surgery and that your Weight will go up for a while until the gas goes away

if you've just been on liquids then it's probably Water retention.

Add me to the list of SLOW losers. I am two weeks post-op and have only lost 5 pounds. I am exercising about 30 mins per day and get around 7000 total steps per day. It is very frustrating watching others lose 15 pounds in the same time period. Hope my body kicks into weight loss mode soon.

I lost 16 lbs in the first MONTH, and my high weight was 373 lbs. Your rate of weight loss is your rate of weight loss. It depends on many factors - age, gender, metabolic rate, activity level, starting BMI, whether or not you lost weight prior to surgery. About the only thing you can control (other than your activity level) is your commitment to your surgeon's plan. So stick to the plan, and the weight will come off, whether fast or slow. I was a slow loser throughout the whole journey, and I ended up losing all of my excess weight. You adherence to the plan is a much better indicator of your eventual success than your rate of weight loss is.

Don't be discouraged about being on the "slower" end of losing weight. When I went in for my surgery, after following my liquid diet and other adjustments they asked me to make before my surgery, I was already down to 168. When I came out of surgery and went home, I weighed over 180. It took weeks before I got back down to my pre-surgery weight. But once I got there, the weight was regularly coming off.

10 lbs is month is pretty normal. I started at 373. I lost 16 lbs the first month and about 10-12 lbs a month after that. At about six or seven months out, it dropped to 5-8 lbs. I did eventually lose it all, though, so don't despair.

your calories are fine. I wouldn't increase.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
