Am I eating too little?

Recommended Posts

I sip on Water and Gatorade Zero all day long. I'm not tracking the oz's like I should but I was told as long as I'm peeing clear, I should be hydrated. I also sip on atleast 3 cups of homemade beef broth. I don't feel fatigued. I have Premier Protein, but can't have those until next week. Should I get Premier Protein clear? I also was told not to take my Vitamins until day 4 or 5. Is this norm? I'm not even hungry. Looking at my directions, it just says to drink 48-64oz a day, nothing about Protein.

It depends on the surgeon. Most people are drinking Protein Shakes right away, though. I'd check with your clinic.

My surgeon said only Clear Liquids the first week... and start on the Protein the second week. I followed his guidelines. But as @catwoman7 said -- seems like every surgeon has different guidelines.

I believe it was the same for me regarding the Vitamins and Protein. They made me wait awhile before starting either and I doubted it a bit, but stuck to it. I just had my 6 month check up and the doctor said I only had one Vitamin deficiency and that was Vitamin A which was only under by 3 points and she said she was impressed because usually with Loop DS patients their 6 month check up has tons of deficiencies. She said I follow my routine very well and it shows in the lab results and to just add some Vitamin A into my regiment. Which I did. I find it hilarious that my Iron looked good though because I've cut down to only 1 Iron Multivitamin a day (and two non-Iron mulit's) due to it stopping me up. I think my body just processes Iron REALLY, REALLY well! x'D

Anyway, I wish you the best!

I ordered Premier Protein Clear on Amazon, I should get it by tomorrow. I seriously think I drank only 100 calories, these past 3 days, I need calories!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
