Today was my surgery. Their scale said I weight in at 249. Bummer. So let me just say, the recovery was the hardest for me. But as the hours went on, it got easier and easier. I walked twice. It was suppose to be overnight, but they only granted elective surgery, due to covid, if it was an outpatient. I still have not vomited, so crossing fingers. I do feel little rising up pains after I drink. I am drinking pretty much every 10 minutes, sips. broth, Gatorade Zero, Water. My doctor also said he repaired a hernia I had! I can't wait for the results! Do yall weigh yourselves? I think I need a new scale.

You just had surgery you'll be bloated and full of gas for a few weeks so no need to weigh just yet

A little advice, don't weight yourself the first ten days. You'll have Water weight from the IV and will likely weigh MORE than you did before your surgery. After ten days then go for it!

Great advice on the scale. I won't, until my first visit with the doctor. Can you recommend any good scales?

Congrats on your surgery and new tool! I agree on waiting on weighing yourself! That Water weight gain is serious lol.

i have renpho. It connects to my phone via Bluetooth and keeps everything documented for me so I can go back and see what I weighed at week 2, 10 and so on. It also is a body mass analyzer so it tells me how much bone density, body fat and blah blah blah. It keeps track of my BMI as well. I have it set up so when I open the app, it shows me what my current weight is but also how much I’ve lost and how many BMI points I’ve lost. You can also do body measurements and keep track of them on there. I believe it’s called a renpho body smart scale and is on Amazon for about $32.

Thanks! I will look into that one. We are both tired of the one we have, whenever you move it to a different place on the tile it can range a 6lb difference!

No problem. You can also connect more than one device to it so both me and my husband are able to use it and track our progress.

Good to hear a review of the Renpho scales @Puffy-no-more. I ordered them last week cos my old scales tried to tell me I'd gained 2.5kg while doing my preop diet 😜

I had surgery a week ago and won't weigh myself until the new scales have arrived.

I came home from the hospital 10 pounds over my surgery weight. It took about a week for the fluids to come off. I agree with others, don’t weigh yet!

When yall do start weighing after your first post Dr. visit, how often do you weigh yourself?

I started weighing a week after surgery and for a while, I would weigh every morning. But I felt like I was starting to go crazy so I finally changed to weekly and that has been great for me. But a lot of people here weigh every day. I just found it easier to deal with the stalls and stuff to do it weekly. You will figure out what works best for you.

I weighed daily for weeks but it was starting to feel a little obsessive. I’ve switched to weekly now.

I use Renpho scale as well. Really like the extra data I get and automatic graph on weight loss. I put my cellphone on floor beside because with Otterbox case it adds 7 oz.

I didn’t weigh myself until my 1st post op spot at 1 week. Lost 11lbs! I’d be willing to bet though that I would have seen gains right after surgery if I’d checked early on

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
