NYCinVA 0 Posted July 16, 2020 I'm new to the group and finding my nerves getting the better of me as I get closer to my surgery. I was originally scheduled for April but it got pushed back due to COVID. I'm back on the schedule for 8/14. My surgeon gave me a list of Vitamins but they all seem really pricey. I saw some in the shop here that were way more reasonably priced but any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
catwoman7 11,221 Posted July 17, 2020 I get a lot of my stuff at Walgreens or CVS. I'm sure the bariatric-specific Vitamins are great, but lots of them ARE pretty pricey. As long as whatever you get meets the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery requirements, you're good (note that some bariatric-specific vitamins may contain the amounts that we need (and we do need more of some vitamins than normal people need), so you may end up only taking three or four supplements a day with your multi is a bariatric-specific Vitamin, but you can duplicate these guidelines with just normal drug store vitamins, too - you might just have to take more pills to meet all the requirements. But you may still come out ahead price-wise). scroll down to Table 3 to see the requirements: https://asmbs.org/app/uploads/2008/09/ASMBS-Nutritional-Guidelines-2016-Update.pdf 1 KDella reacted to this
riverwaters 34 Posted July 20, 2020 I’ve bought from ProCare (what the hospital recommended) and it seemed fairly cheap. I did the Bariatric45 with Iron and then the caramel Calcium chew (which is pretty good). Also - they have a free trial pack that you can get from their site. 1 ChicagoEsti reacted to this
Brekatelyn 2 Posted July 23, 2020 Did you start your Vitamins with the 2 weeks diet before surgery ? Just wondering
over65 133 Posted July 27, 2020 You can get a sample pack of Celebrate for $9.95. If you buy in the future, the $9.95 applies to future purchase so sample is free. I ordered the sample pack and glad I did. I didn't like any of the pills/chews.First month I took fusion Bariatric chewables which is $25 per month at my bariatric center.I received 3-month supply of Bariatric Advantage Multi EA and Calcium chewables. I received cinnamon calcium which I really like. The multi EA is strawberry which also palatable. These are quite expensive so will likely return to FUSION when free ones are gone.
