lukin 0 Posted November 30, 2007 I had my surgery on Wednesday morning around 10 and had to drink some kind of solution in front of an x-ray machine to make sure everything was working properly before they let me go home. I'm home now and I'm on a clear liquid diet for the next week, followed by a normal liquid diet for the next 3 weeks. I'm having problems swallowing very tiny sips of Water and I'm supposed to get down 32oz. today. Every time I swallow I can feel the liquid go down and then a small burp and I'll feel a little better, and it's a little dis-comfortable while the liquid is going down. I'm hoping that this is completely normal because of the swelling in the stomach and that it's going to get better. My doctor did tell me that I'm a little tighter than normal before I left the hospital yesterday. Did anyone else experience anything like this?
summerbushnell 0 Posted November 30, 2007 I had my surgery on Tuesday and have been burbing up a storm. I took some gas-x (chewable) last night and this morning and it really helped. I can feel it when I swallow stuff too, it is such a wierd feeling and getting so full after having such a small amount of something. I have been taking 2 ibeprofen with my liquid pain meds and I swear that it has been helping with the discomfort and swelling.
bandster_1007 1 Posted November 30, 2007 be careful with that ibprofen, it is a nsaid. not recommend for frequent or long term use with the band due to it's erosive properties.
kacee 3 Posted December 1, 2007 I had a "golf ball" in my chest for the first week or so after surgery, that's the best way I can describe it... You have to take really TINY sips. You can get everything down, but it has to be constant and over a period of time. No more gulping and guzzling. Your insides are swolen and it takes some time. Listen to yor body and work with it.
