How common is it to get anxious and have a tendency to get your last licks in with junk food? I was able to control my diet but as I get closer I’m thinking I need to have one last rendezvous with my favorite high calorie foods. Anyone else on a bit of a frenzy?

Yes!!!!!! I am 9 days out and I want to eat all the stuff.... lol. I think part of it is nerves and knowing my relationship will be different soon. I've been really good making healthier choices and following my doctors guidelines but the desire is 10000000% there.

I had a food funeral before my presurgery diet. Went out and got chinese buffet and ate as much as I could until it was painful. Kinda made me hate the food, honestly, but... it's rough, but the farther out you are from having the surgery, the more likely you'll realize you don't miss those foods. Or, if you're missing them something fierce, once you can eat regular foods again, look for healthy alternatives. I still eat pizza a lot, but I make a ground chicken crust and put a lot of veggies on top. I still eat Chinese-style foods, but I make them at home with very little oil and a lot of protein/veggies.

The fear of missing food is pretty rough at first, but you'll realize that feeling good and healthy is a lot nicer, too.

I did too but the last 72 hours followed protocol plus you will take that stuff to flush you out. Just make sure you don’t do anything that could enlarge your liver it is one of the reasons for the diet. Good luck

The worst thing I did was eat an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s last night. It was a new flavor and I always buy a new flavor. I’ll do better going forward.

in time you'll be able to eat pretty much everything you do now, only in smaller portions. The only thing I can't eat anymore are super fatty meals (e.g., Friday night fish fries are a no-go now - I used to love them!).

I did eat some of my favorite foods before my pre-op liquid diet, but I didn't gorge - and I also knew that it wasn't good-bye forever - that eventually I'd be able to eat them again.

I am a sleeve revision to bypass and I'm eating things I know I won't be able to eat for a long time based on my sleeve recovery--fresh cherries (they will be out of season by the time I can eat them) coconut, corn, and celery (too much Fiber, not enough vitamins) and panko shrimp (too much fat). Oh, and toast. It took me a couple of years to be able to eat toast. Other than that, I'm just eating my normal diet. I'm also wondering about my presurgical protocol. My surgeon didn't tell me liquids only the day before surgery like some others here. Guess he's ready for whatever might be in there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
