To all the PS vets out there: I’m about 20 lbs from goal, which if I continue to follow my same loss trend I should hit in late October. I’m eager for plastics (yes, I know so some say to wait), and am consulting with three surgeons in my area this week. I’m tentatively planning for PS after the first of the year.

I’d love your guidance about what questions to ask the surgeons to be able to make a good decision about which one is right for me.

I have three areas I’d like work done on: first priority is getting rid of my epic bat wings, second is getting a breast lift and either fat transfer or smallish implants, third is a Tummy Tuck. Not sure all three can be done at once.

Thanks in advance for your guidance! I’m so pleased to be closing in on goal and moving towards the finishing touches.

I haven't it goal yet, and I'm scheduled for January too! Gives me something to look forward to, and is definitely motivating to hit goal before Winter!

I would definitely look at before/afters, and as far as questions, find out what BMI the doc wants you at, can you do multiple procedures at once , and if not, what the recommended order would be. Also why kind of Tummy Tuck is recommended: regular, ETT, CTT, etc. Is MR and Lipo to the flanks included with the TT.

Good luck!!!

some will do several procedures at once, some won't. My surgeon won't spend more than six hours in surgery (which is fine by me - I don't want a tired guy with a knife working on me!), so he did the lower body lift separately (other procedures were done together in a second surgery).

re: tummy tucks. Look at pictures, and especially notice belly buttons. Belly buttons are supposedly challenging to get right, so if the after pictures all have natural-looking belly buttons, you've probably found a skilled surgeon. Also, look at reviews - like on realself.com

I found 3 surgeons on Real Self with high ratings in my area (Seattle). I only have one friend in the area who’s had anything done and she did not like her surgeon, so haven’t gotten any personal recommendations. So far the before/after I’ve seen of all three look good, including their belly buttons :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
