0doru0 1 Posted June 11, 2020 Hi!I'm 19 years old and am very excited to schedule my surgery. I'm going to get it done in Mexico so I won't have a lot of guidance aside from my mom who has also had gastric sleeve. I'm not considered obese (borderline), but I have had such severe body image issues from 12 years old to now that it makes me uncomfortable to even leave the house sometimes. My mom suggested surgery after I broke down in front of her which wasn't my proudest moment lol. I live a pretty healthy life otherwise, I don't drink soda, don't eat fast food, love veggies, etc. But nothing has made me lose weight. That's why I'm going to this extreme, nothing has worked for me. If anybody could give me any advice or guidance I would be so grateful! Sorry for the wall of text! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app Welcome if you need a friend I'm here. I personally had the bypass but I needed to lose 150lbs and I have done that. Being 19 though you have to be mentally prepared for a huge change in your life where most of your friends are probably going out every weekend and socialising you'll not be as social you'll need to commit to this change of lifestyle totally to be successful and not let temptation take over. It is a good decision but a big decision I choose RNY BYPASS personally because I needed more than just sleeve and wanted better long term success as well.. The sleeve is fine if you only need to lose a smaller amount but there is chance of reflux issues and then needing a bypass anyway. Tell us more about yourself and what surgery you are thinking of and what research you have done???
