So I was revised 5/27. I’m feeling great...
went to bed and awoke with a horrendous bruise on the left side of my belly button ... incision site.
Didn’t have a bruise when I went to bed.
It’s hard large and painful. Feels like a baseball underneath.
All the others are greenish as it’s been over a week.
I called the emergency service for my surgeon and his associate called me back.
Just said if no fever it’ll be okay. ER if I want but with COVID unsure I wanna go but I had surgery and everything was impeccably clean.
Maybe CITYMD. maybe it needs to be drained? 👩🏼‍⚕️

Glad you are okay.

I wanted to ask you about the baseball underneath the incision . What is that ? Is that where the hernia repair is ? I have one also and it feels weird !!

The "bump" under the incision can be hematoma. It can also be e. g. a hernia (I had that). If you want to be sure, you need to get an ultrasound.

It’s a hematoma from the incision site.

Whew! I am very glad you got that checked out just in case. Thank you for sharing and I am very glad that hear that you are okay.

I slept propped up on the couch after my surgery because it was too hard to lay down and get up out of a bed.
I wish you a speedy recovery and much success!

Hi all. I’m okay. Thank you!!!!
It’s a hematoma from the incision site. They gave me a CT SCAN with contrast. Use a heating pad and Tylenol.
I follow up with surgeon tomorrow.
It’s spreading which they said it is good and it’ll stop.
I think that we realized that I went to bed and might have laid on my side accidentally which in turn the blood pooled to the incision area.
So I guess I have to sleep
On my back 🙂
Thanks everyone.

Followed up with the surgeon today. all is well... he isn't too concerned w/ the hematoma and told me what to do - ice/heat/tyenol - watch the spread, make sure no fever, will be worse before better.. normally it doesn't show up after a week or so, but he said it happens...

Otherwise, keep doing what I'm doing :)

TY all for the support!

Back in the ER!!!
Called the docs office today due to horrendous bile regurgitation and nausea/vomiting. Horrendous!!! Woke up with it. Couldn’t get rid
Of it. Called the surgeon. Going to see if I’m dehydrated and another
CT Scan to see if the hematoma is causing issues.
Hooked up to IV now, got some nausea medicine and Vitamins. Waiting for the ct scan.

I have been following your story. Please keep us posted and hope you feel better soon! Fluids are a good start along with the nausea medication.

I was sleeved the same day and still have a large bruise from the Lovenox shot. It’s never been painful though. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks.
So I had CT. Didn’t show anything of major...
they are admitting me though.
They think I’m inflammed.
They are giving me meds and if that doesn’t work than maybe an endo in the next couple days.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
