How long since you had surgery? I am only 7 days and been feeling weak and dizzy on this liquid diet.

I was sleeved on 8/19. The first week post op I was tired and dizzy as well. Once I was moved to full liquids which allowed me to have certain Soups I felt so much better and my energy level improved. How much longer until you can advance?

Counting the days (5) until I hit the puréed stage. When I first met with the dietician, I frowned at the the thought of purées (texture), lets just say things look a lot different now after weeks of liquids. I can’t wait!

I named my sleeve “ Ciara’, she has good vibes, but a diva-tude.

I wasn’t happy about purée either but the first time that puréed tuna hit my tongue I was in heaven. 😂😂 I’m sure Ciara will appreciate it as well.

My headaches have finally gone away. Then I started having pain in my shoulder up to my left ear whenever I took a deep breathe that lasted for about 4 days. Its finally gone now too. My doctor said it was from the anesthesia. The meds they used had to pass out of my body. I was afraid it was a leak or something but now its gone and im good. A couple of my incisions were leaking and that was a pain. It freaked me out at first but they are beginning to dry up and scab over. They look irritated and just out right mad. Doctor said as long as its clear and no funky smell im good to go. Going back to work kinda saved me i was starting to feel a little depressed and regretting having the surgery. But i wake up take meds do my 4oz meal and energy is there and im ready to start my day. Staying in bed and freaking out over every little sound and ache was not beneficial to my mental health in anyway. Everyone is different this just works for me. Hope all is well and good luck on your journey.

I also had that pain with deep breath but coming on two weeks seems to have went away 🧑🚀

Im nervous about the Vitamins and malabsorption, too, but they told me that unless i can stick to a really strict gym routine the sleeve wont work for me. Did your dr mention anything like that to you?

After surgery I started using patch Vitamins and EZ melting vitamins to meet Vitamin requirements. I use a baby spoon for my food intake that has made it easy for me. During my gastric bypass surgery the dr repaired a hiatel hernia that he found. Surgery was on 8/28/20. No discomfort, no pain as today. Good luck on your healthy journey.

Sleeved 8/19 - First road trip for work this past week. Lessons:

1 - Mini Crab Cakes are DELISH - Ordered an appetizer and that was dinner for 3 nights!

2 - Pack your food if possible - Just easier - tuna packets are awesome.

3 - Quest Protein Bars are VILE - I mean, VILE and hit your stomach like a brick @ 3 weeks out!

4 - Quest Protein tortillas are AWESOME (taco flavored) - Loved the crunch/texture and half a bag satisfied my urges.

5 - For some reason it was a hella lot harder to get in my Water on site (and took 4 bottles with me every day)

6 - When you go out to eat and they put water in front of you before your meal it's virtually IMPOSSIBLE to not take a sip! - Had to put the glass across the table. Felt very odd.

7 - My workmates are awesome - Told everyone and not one person tried to pressure me into anything.

8 - The "beast" (my stomach) appears to have been tamed!

9 - Think I've hit the infamous stall and SO HAPPY to have seen so many warnings about it on here.

Hope everyone is doing fantastic!

Glad to hear things are going well! You gave me some new food options to try, I'm starting to get tired of chicken and tuna so excited to try crab meat. I'm not sure if I can have chips now but I put them on the list for new month.

I was August 20th for g. bypass. Also have a CPAP. My loss is good but I’m also living off like 350-500 cal, 50 G Protein and about 40oz Water daily. I can’t fit much more in me and I’m so tired I don’t have the energy to care much.

I go back to work soon and I’m scared.

You are on the right track! Trust the process and continue doing what you are doing. See if you can fit in more Protein in for more energy. I’m taking in about 78-80g of protein a day and my energy issue went away. I had surgery on 8/26 also with a cpap. My weight has some what stalled but I’m trusting the process and putting my head down to continue moving forward. Hope things get better for you soon😊

Just seeing if anyone is scheduled already for August 2020 with all this COVID stuff going on and people being pushed back farther and farther.

I had my surgery on August 1,2020! I have my post op visit this week. I didn’t expect so much pain, but they do alter your insides!

However, I’m glad I did it to get rid of my morbid issues.

I don't know how y'all are getting so much Protein in - my doctor told me to stop shakes once I moved to soft food. Yesterday I only got 9 grams of protein. Are those of you who are hitting your goals using shakes? I might ask about adding them back in for a bit.

Yes I have 2-3 Protein Shakes a day and I’m on the purée stage. I’m not sure how you can get much protein in on the purée stage without shakes unless you are purée chicken breast and steak which doesn’t sound appealing.

I'm definitely getting all my protein in - I'm overly concerned about losing hair so it's a must exceed goal for me each day. My doc said I should be getting the "bulk" of my protein from soft food. However, she said it is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged to still have one shake a day to ensure I don't struggle meeting my protein goals while my stomach is still healing the first 3-6 months. So, I'm still having one shake a day (30 g of protein) mixed with fair life milk (13 g of protein). Then, getting the remaining 17 - 37g of protein isn't hard at all. Throughout the day I usually have 1/4c of cottage cheese (7.5g P), Babybel cheese (6g P), Scallops or Salmon, deli turkey meat or shredded chicken.

Hope this helps and I definitely encourage you to call your doctor if you are only managing 9 grams a day.

My program recommends one protein drink/shake a day while on the soft food diet and that is how I am able to meet or some times go pass my protein goal for the day. My goal is 60. Once I move on to general diet I was told I can cut the shakes/drinks out if I can reach the protein goal on my own each day. I still think I will keep the Protein Powder in the house just in case.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
