abiebaby 24 Posted June 4, 2020 Hello all. Just got my surgery date (6/22), and I'm excited/nervous. My main concern right now is how to tell my kids, specifically, my 11 year old, who is very sensitive, and tends to worry. Best to tell them now, so they can process, or tell them right before so they don't have much time to worry? colormehappy 124 Posted June 4, 2020 In my experience working with kids (therapist here) it’s better to tell them closer to the time it’s happening. Maybe 1-2 days before. Then she won’t be stressed out the whole month. Good luck! My kids are younger but I left the weight loss part out of my explanation. I told them I was having surgery on my tummy that would make me healthier and let me play with them more.
ChubRub 1,709 Posted June 4, 2020 I didn't tell my kids (only my husband knows). I just said I was going away for work and would be at a hotel for 1 night. I'm sneaky like that! LOL!! Best of luck with your surgery!!

Mummy is just going to get healthier
