So Bored...here are some chaffles!

Recommended Posts

I'm addicted to chaffles, and since I'm so bored, I've resorted to taking pics of my chaffles. Served traditional, pizza style, chaffle taco, and strawberry short chaffle. Enjoy! LOL!!

Chaffles are the bomb!

97 calories, 11g Protein, 1 g carb. Depending on what I top them with, my entire meal is usually between 125-200 calories.

it's just an egg and mozzarella cheese. Sometimes people will add other things (cinnamon, herbs, etc) to make them sweet or savory. so they're fine. They're very popular on another bariatric forum I'm also on

I tried the chaffle thing, and went out and bought one of those cute Dash minis.

But the handful of times I attempted it, it just tastes like a well done omelette!

I figure I must be doing something wrong....so now I'm going to give it another go this afternoon, because of this thread!

Hope you like them better this time around! The first time I made them in a belgian waffle maker, and they are ok, but once I tried the mini dash, I was hooked! I use 1 egg white and 1/4 cup mozz, and mix really well in a bowl til it starts to look batter-like.

For today's lunch, it was pepperoni pizza!

I usually put cinnamon and artificial sweetener in my chaffles - then I top them with a dollop of plain Greek yogurt and fruit compote (I make my fruit compote by cooking down berries with artificial sweetener or SF Torani Syrup plus some cinnamon and vanilla. Sometimes I have to put a little thickener in there if it's too liquidy....). My husband eats his with maple syrup.

Wait a moment. It's something made out of egg and cheese, right? How is a chaffle supposed to taste if not like that? 🧐

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
