Ruth D 7 Posted May 25, 2020 Hi all, I had my surgery on May 20, 2020, My first day and second day were good until I could introduce cream of Soups to my diet, and Protein Shakes. Now I go to bathroom (#2) at least three times a day. Is this normal? Also my shoulder hurts every time I try to belch. 1 Ruth D reacted to this
Arabesque 7,459 Posted May 25, 2020 They fill your abdomen with gas during surgery to inflate the area so they can see what they are doing. The gas has to then find its own way out of your body & causes side effects like the shoulder pain. The cream Soups could be too rich for you. I was told to stick to Clear Liquids to begin like broths & stock-based soups with the Protein Shakes for the first couple of weeks. Remember you just had surgery on your stomach it needs to be treated gently for a while. The creamy soups could also be stirring up a lactose sensitivity. You’ll soon be experiencing the opposite effect of having wls - Constipation. 1 catwoman7 reacted to this
Ruth D 7 Posted May 25, 2020 What Protein Shakes did you do? My doc told me to use boost, however it has 16gs of sugar and I just bought premier Proteins that has 1 g of sugar and 4 carbs. Is this ok to do? I will call my doctor in the morning, just trying to get answers from others as well.
New&Improved 1,780 Posted May 25, 2020 Yea I was only on shakes and Water for a while and had a few clear broths in Hospital noting with cream in it.. something may be reacting inside causing you to dump?
NikkiOwl 24 Posted May 25, 2020 I use Premier and it was okayed by my program but definitely always check with your program too. I also seem to be rejecting things with dairy.
