Glad to hear you're doing okay other than the initial swelling. That sounds rather uncomfortable, I really never had it. Hopefully, it means you'll have some restriction once the swelling goes down too. Try to keep sipping as much as you can and walk, walk, walk. take care and let us know how you're doing!

Hi Jonathan

Congratulations on your new band!

There is alot of swelling , every day it gets easier, just take tiny sips as often as you can. It seems from all of the other mens post that i have read here and on other boards that what you are experiencing is more common among men. Hang in there..I'm happy for you . I wish you the best :D

Congratulations Jonathan! Welcome to bandland!

I hope that your swelling goes down enough for you to take in some Water. That barium stuff is pretty nasty, glad to hear it tasted better coming up.

Take care of yourself, rest as much as you can!!

Welcome to Bandland, Jonathan! It probably doesn't seem like a fun place right now, but everyone's right: Things do get better every day. Try to force yourself to walk whenever you can; it will help dissipate the gas & you'll feel a little better. Hang in there -- the first few days are the toughest. Congratulations!

Ugh... this is miserable...

I'm PBing saliva. I'm a little nervous about tonight... I have to sleep on my back, of course, which is something I haven't done in years. I'll prop myself up, but I'm afraid that I might PB in my sleep and choke.

I guess that's why the wife is here, huh?

Now, I would say the worst thing about not being able to get ANY liquid down (or, at least, a very very very small amount, going down very very very slowly) is that I haven't been able to keep my pain medicine (lortab) down at all.

I said I *would* say that, but in fact, I'm not in any pain at all, other than the knot in my stomach. No gas yet, either, but I'm walking quite a bit, hoping to avoid the worst of it.

Anyway, as time permits, and as I feel up to it, I'll be updating my website: http://www.waistingaway.com

Feel free to check it out, should you ever find yourself bored enough to =)

Jonathan

Jonathan, liquid tylenol should be easy for you to get down.

I know it should have, but believe me when I tell you that yesterday, nothing was going down. My saliva was being created at a rate faster than anything could get through my stoma.

I took the liquid lortab (which is clear and as thin as water) and) invariably regurgiated it.

However, here's the good news...

I slept through the night without PBing/vomiting/regurgitating once, so I think that means that my swelling must have gone down. We're about to take the 4 hour drive home, so I'm going to try the lortab again and see if it'll do something for me.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, everyone.

Jonathan

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
