I agree, not having the restriction makes it a lot more difficult. I'm eating less, excercising more, and the weight isn't coming off at all like it did. My metabolism hasn't change, and im more hungry than I was after sleeve. Self control isn't a problem right now, but I know if I do not lose weight it will become a problem.

EXACTLY! With the sleeve the weight literally falls off!! With the bypass it’s no physical stopping. I’m eating like I have the sleeve ( small bites) but the fact that I don’t get the full sensation temps me to snack😢😢 message you all the new sleeve patients : EMBRACE THE RESTRICTION!!!!

I've met many ppl who say they didn't lose everything they wanted with the sleeve and it took longer than people on bypass and in my experience this is the first time in my life I've ever lost this much ever and ever got this low on the scale and before surgery every little thing I ate would gain weight and now in maintenance I've had a few treats and it has not affected me weight at all...... The sleeve is really just to limit the volume of food that's about it the bypass rearranges your intestines and changes your metabolism; there's a ton of research to explain the metabolic changes..

I know look skinny and have metabolism of skinny person and I feel amazing!!

If you don’t mind me asking how much was your pre weight? And is the bypass your first surgery?

Hey yes first surgery and we all know the first surgery will be different to someone who had more than 1...

I've gone from 322 to 170lbs in 8 months with bypass and still now some days I'm not even hungry.

Don’t get me wrong you guys. My revision was done on March 9 and I’ve already lost 35 pounds so I’m happy, it’s just not what I was expecting . I had the perfect sleeve but the pregnancies forced my pouch to spread. The last pregnancy I was on complete bed rest for the entire thing. I guess I’m sad

I cut out all sugar and fat and was very low carbs from day1.

I actually lived off shakes for months and I felt great you have to be committed and focused on your goals you cannot give in to cravings.

What about fruits? I’m addicted to fruits but I think it’s because of its sugar content. Maybe I’ll go back to only shakes too! I was super motivated the first surgery but I’m just so stuck

You don't need to be a hermit because of your weight.

Yes I do. When I lost the weight the first time a lot of negative ppl in my life said I would fail and gain it all back which I did!😢😢😔😔😔 and evening though I cut most ppl out of my life the main ones are my family. I’ve literally been in hiding. I can’t believe they were right.

Yes everyone knows that a 2nd or 3rd surgery is totally different to a first surgery I'm glad I made the right choice and did months of research before choosing the BYPASS.

Seen many people needing to be revised to bypass for many reasons over the years.

My journey lasted about 8 months from when I began my pre-op diet to when I felt I was in maintenance and all I did was eat very little calories and carbs and was very strict on myself living off shakes predominantly for months and shed 154lbs and now BMI is 22.7

I feel great. I look great. And my metabolism is amazing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
