I am 5'4" and was 226.8. I have kost ALL my excess weight and am currently 133.9 lbs. I have a little loose skin on my hands and face, but it is getting better (just reached my goal... so still new). The rest of my body looks great albeit in need of more toning. My belly is mostly flat but I do have a permanent c-section pooch. No big deal.

CONGRATULATIONS🏆 on losing ALL excess weight at 7.5 months out! To me that is AMAZING! Our stats are similar and I would be so thrilled I couldn’t stand it.😁 Any words of wisdom on what you did to EARN this Success would be SO greatly appreciated.

Again, SUPER CONGRATS!💐

I’m worried about the same thing. I’m scheduled for sgy next month and I find myself panicking sometimes about if I’m making the right decision or not. One reason being the loose skin factor. I’m 37, 5’3, 275 lbs and have been over 200 lbs for the past 10 years. Does anyone have similar stats who’s post op? How did you guys fair with loose skin? Do you regret the surgery? Did you see major improvements to your health long-term?

I am 5'3 and 216 right now with a BMI of 38.

I carry most of my weight in my stomach and butt and I am wondering what people with similar size had as far as loose skin? I am 38 years old if that helps.

We have almost similar starting stats...almost: I started at 5'2", 235 lbs (BMI 43), 46 yrs old.

I'm 1.5 years out now, and I am 5'1 and a bit (yep, I got shorter!) and 115 lbs, and a year older.

I did get to goal weight comparatively fast (I got to 127 lbs in about 7 months), and yep, I ended up with loose skin. I had plastic surgery (Tummy Tuck, Arm Lift & Breast Lift) at 14 months to get rid of it.

I think the majority of people end up with some level of loose skin. Some worse/better than others. A lucky few get none at all.

Below is a side by side pic of what my bod looked like the day before wls surgery, then 4 months after starting maintenance, then 6 weeks after plastics.

I will say that even if I didn't get plastics, my loose skin was easily hidden with clothes, and like some of the posters have said above, I'd take loose skin over my pre-wls fat any day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
