I’m seriously struggling. I can’t get anywhere close to 80grams of Protein in...anybody have any tips?

i should add I’m day 5 postoperative and only now starting to feel like I haven’t been punched in the stomach 😬

My doctor isn't that worried about my Protein, I have been around 35-40 grams almost exclusively from Premier Protein drinks, I am 2 weeks out now.

At 5 days I wasn't having much at all.

I am getting mine pretty easily, BUT the required amount is 60 grams AND they said for the first week that was aspirational. 80 g is a lot! I am having a harder time getting the 64oz on water/liquids, but getting at least 40. You can only do what you can do!

Had my sleeve done June 18th, Clear liquid stage, and still having some gas pains from the lap sites, and some incisional discomfort. But excited for the future.

It is a bit better. Thank you for asking 😊. I have walked a path into my wood floor and my husband has been massaging, in addition to warm drinks, gas-x, etc. It’s strange that everything you read will tell you that this should be gone in two days when there seems to be so many others for that is it so. Since there are things surgeons can do to help reduce the problem, it does kind of make me wonder if there’s some surgeons who are just lazy and don’t care. I hate to think that way but not sure what else to think 🥴

at least I am having little in the way of other pain or issues. Except being bored silly with liquids 😂

Yeah Drs were good sorting out buscopan and pain relief for me. I was very lucky from the sounds of it. I am keen to change up from clear liquid and go to smoothies and Soups just for the variety from the Protein Shakes I had for so long.

Mine was on the 22nd and am nervously excited too. Concerned about how the food will go when doing liquid ect but also keen to make the changes.

Did you find the second week easier? I’m having a hard time balancing the discomfort with the pain meds the doc gave me. He gave me Percocet which I thought was a bit heavy and have been avoiding taking them...but then I’m in pain...each day does seem to be getting better but it’s still rough...

I didn't actually have pain from day one and never took any meds for it. Just some discomfort occasionally with a gas bubble or adjusting positions awkwardly.

Night snacking has been where my struggle is too, but I have pushed through and made it. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9am.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
