6/16 RNY - rescheduled from 4/7 - started 2 wk preop diet today!

How ya liking the Protein Shakes? Which is your favorite? I've just made my Fage 0%, P2 powder, Stevia cocoa extract, shake. 28 grams pro. 10 carb. It's pretty close to my usual non-diet morning shake except no frozen banana (which I really miss) and real Peanut Butter instead of P2. What's your favorite brand of shake?

I had a coworker who told me she was on the track to do WLS and she had a dream where someone who had passed said the same thing and she didn't go through with the surgery!! Maybe it's a common dream to have?

I sure hope so. I am a big believer in SCIENCE. So I'm going to chalk it up to anxiety. Doot da dooOoOoOo!

Thanks so much! I'm still waiting to hear from the hospital for my actual report/surgery time tomorrow. I did get notification that my Covid test was negative. I'm really nervous, and really excited, and really second guessing everything. Thanks for all the positive thoughts and energy!!!!

Do they allow for sprays? I love the butter substitute spray and some salt free Mrs Dash (several flavors) on Broccoli and sometimes asparagus. But I could eat the well steamed broccoli everyday. Thats quite a diet. Hang in there! I bet you'll lose a lot before surgery!!

Thanks for the encouragement - it’s tough but necessary...with all that’s been going on in the last few months I’ve been spiraling with my food intake. It’s been constant eating...I started this last week and dropped 14lbs so far. Def a lot of Water weight and not sustainable but it was a nice boost to get started.
not sure about the sprays - I have one Mrs dash but I don’t like it much. I’ll have to try a different one. I’ve been using my air fryer a lot. Made fries out of turnip sticks with some powdered onion, garlic and paprika...pretty good! Also made some lettuce wraps with turnip, cauliflower, broccoli, and cucumber. Wasn’t bad but man I could’ve used some salt!

I may have a June date! I'm a nervous wreck! The nurse from the VA Med Ctr called today. They need patients who have completed all of the VA program requirements, pre wgt loss, psychological evaluation, etc & are ready for surgery now, which I have been since Feb. She scheduled a video apt on Fri so she can complete an evaluation & submit it to the surgeon. I am a nervous wreck, I hope the surgeon approves me.

I was SUPER into Protein Shakes (mixed flavored powder with almond milk to keep it low carb) and they tasted pretty decent. I bought a bunch of flavors and then I quit smoking cigarettes -- now I can't get it down without gagging. I don't know what I am going to do after surgery.

The meal plan given is basically taking shots of milk every half hour with some blended Soup thrown in, so we will see..

Hello almost surgery twin! My doctors office recommended Premier Protein so I’ve been mixing the powder with almond milk.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
