Today was the absolute worst day ever

Recommended Posts

Honestly I didn’t think after that first 2-3 weeks with the air in your shoulder that things would get worst but today too it all. I had a bowl of Cheerios the usual 1-2ounces and my almond milk. So I have been eating it with no problem and it balances out the sugar fix or the additional that I need for the day but my god today I managed to pass out three times completely blacked out thank god I wasn’t driving and two out of the three I had a cold sweat. I haven’t had the passing out phase since the second month of surgery but I am exhausted and so scared has this ever happens to anyone??

and yes I am most definitely calling my surgeon

I'm SO SORRY you are going through this. It must be terrifying! Please let us know what your doctor/s say and how you are progressing after this awful experience.

I feel you... I've been having really bad dizzy spells for a couple weeks and almost blacked out more than once. My doctor gave me a TON of medicine including meclizine and none of it is helping... I've always been slightly hypoglycemic so I'm wondering if mine is caused by low blood sugar levels. I don't have a glucose testing kit to check though... The thing that makes me doubt it being low blood sugar levels for myself though is that usually when my blood sugar is low I shake really bad. Like full on shaking. I'm not shaking at all.

I hope they figure out what's going on with you and can help you quickly so that you don't have to keep going through something so scary!

Yikes! So sorry, but you "gotta" breakup with fast acting carbs...BP has some pretty great tasting low carb Cereal so I've heard.

yea - talk to a doctor for sure. I'm guessing it's a blood sugar issue, but then, who knows. They'll probably want to do a complete workup to try to figure out the problem.

I'd try some Protein for Breakfast instead of the cheerios and if you can I would get your bloods done, you may be anemic and need Iron. Best of luck, hope you feel better

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
