Sorry to say that this is something you're just going to have to wait out. Look up telogen effluvium. It's common after a stressful event like surgery or change in your nutrition. It's part of the normal hair cycle and will stop.

I've done (and still do) the Vitamins and Hair loss shampoos. I've struggled with fine, thin (and thinning) hair that is prone to breakage for years and it feels like a daily battle. The things I found most effective were hair OILS with scalp massage. I started with a product called "Hair Envy". Effective, but expensive. I currently do a combo of what I have left of the Hair Envy and a couple of drops of CBD oil. I alternate that with an Ayurvedic hair revitalizer oil and may even do a coconut oil deep conditioning treatment once in a while. These make my hair soft and strong, but it DOES NOT make it noticeably thicker/fuller.

Sadly I've been suffering from Hair loss for a while, as i have a thyroid problem which i was told could take minimum of a year of the medication to start getting better. I was diagnosed Feb 2019.

I haven't had hair loss yet but if i do, i know i wont deal with it very well 😪

MsMocie I can relate to a T right down to cutting my own hair in a similar state of mind last month...It’s seriously distressing to lose so much hair so fast and seemingly no end in sight, I broke down and bought a “hairpiece” wig, which was crazy expensive for a small amount of human hair...My Hair loss happened about 4-5 months post opp. I have a lot of baby hair which is encouraging I am using the Keranique Shampoo and Conditioner right now but not any of the Hair growth chemicals as I’m hoping I won’t ever need it...the Keranique shampoo and conditioner is blah in my opinion it smells too pharmaceutical and I really don’t have an opinion yet on whether it works or not, I bought some hair gummies too as I’m obviously lacking Vitamins because my nails are weak and brittle too which wasn’t a problem before either...so in a span of a few months I’ve become preoccupied with manicures and hair just to maintain an acceptable level of self esteem...sigh....I also turn 40 next week as if I need my $#!! to go to heck now, not to mention my complexion is wack...never had acne, always use good products and suddenly I’ve had breakouts...but life is weird for us all right now isn’t it?? Take care

I'm in the same boat. Five months out and my hair is falling out like crazy despite taking Biotin and an arrary of other Vitamins. My thick, beautiful hair, is now thin. Thankfully, no bald spots. I've read that at 6 months it subsides for most people, and I sure hope that's the case. Reading CannonRoar's post scares the beegeebeezies out of me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
