Have you taken any comparison photos? They are great for highlighting changes that we can't see in the mirror.

Are you still losing weight or have you been on a bit of a stall?

I haven't taken comparison photos. I tend to steer clear of that just because I'm still working on self image etc. But I know I lost weight (when I didn't think I did) because I had my Drs appointments in the last couple weeks and I was told my weight was down from before surgery weigh in. So that was an exciting thing to hear. I'm not sure if I've lost still but I'm active. But even the weight I lost, my clothes(ones I wore before surgery) aren't loose or seem to be loosening up.. so it's very confusing and discouraging.

My advice is to take the comparison pictures only for yourself. I take one each week, but they are strictly for me. We are visual creatures and you'll encourage yourself, my neck is back and my face is slimmer, my midsection is shapely and no longer muffin top overflowing my pants. I've been stalled for a week or two, but I can see and feel the physical changes.

Are you physically active, toning your body and etc. For example 175 looks different on a toned body as opposed to 175 on non-exercising and not physically toned body. I hope that makes sense to you.

Oh, I forgot to mention that you should reward yourself for your accomplishments thus far. Something to help build your confidence like a nice facial at home, new tennis shoes or workout outfit or etc. Then create a new non scale goal and work towards it. For example I'm looking forward to seeing my collarbones this year. My reward is to wear one of my summer dresses and to feel good with sun kissing my collarbones and being thankful.

You have to use Pictures before and after= You head is not letting you see it!

have someone take pictures. I hated having pictures taken of myself when I weighed over 300 lbs, too, but now I'm SO glad I have them. I now love having the visual documentation of my journey - and also, during that first year or two, when I swear I looked exactly the same and was getting discouraged, I'd look back at those pictures and compare, for examples, month 1 or 2 with month 4 or 5, and it was VERY obvious it was working.

I agree with this. I promise you in the long run you will be happy you took them :D

What kind of clothes are they? Do they have elastic in the waist? Are your jeans true jeans or "stretch" jeans? Were your tops modestly fitting before? Sometimes if we don't wear figure-hugging clothing, it's harder to tell from your clothing. If you've lost 34 pounds (congrats!), go and get a piece of clothing you haven't worn for a while and see how that goes. Be kind to yourself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
