I weigh once a week, Monday mornings. Daily or every few days don’t work for my motivation or psyche because our bodies change daily due to various factors.

I’m still in pre-op but I weigh daily and log my weight in My Fitness Pal to stay on track. It helps me figure out what is working for me and what isn’t when I compare my dietary log to weight.

When I had RNY I could only be weighed on my Doc's scale, as I was too big for any others. Even hospital scales didn't go so high.

Once I could weigh elsewhere, I didn't. By then I had learned I didn't need to know my weight to succeed.

Now, these years later, I weigh at my annual physical. That's it.

How I feel, what I can do, those are the important measurements.

Thus, I say to thee, cast away that demon scale. Be free and joyful in good health!

I weigh myself once every morning but I only log the weight once a week (every Monday). I find, for myself, this actually helps. I see my weight fluctuate on a day-to-day basis, but overall, over the week it's still going down. I found that when I stopped being regular about weighing myself after I had my sleeve done, that that's when I started to gain weight without noticing. By the time I did notice, it was hard for me to reverse the trend.

This is a very clever way of allowing the daily curiosity but not feeling the pains of the ups and downs of every meal or bloated day. I’m going to do this as well. Thank you BIJ!!

Inquiring minds want to know...

Hello
I was sick about weighing myself
During the pandemic i gained some pounds and it has made me discouraged so.I have not weighed.myself yet
I plan to weigh in on 9/30.

My goal is to weigh myself every 3 weeks. I intend to continue going to the gym, focus how my clothes are feeling on my body and eat clean.

A stall is not something that requires 'breaking'

The lesson to learn from Loridee11 is that it's better to not now about stalls early on.

scales lie. Stalls happen. They don't mean you are doing anything wrong, or that anything needs fixing.

Just keep doing your plan. The scale will catch up, then it will vex you again. Don't give the scale the power to cause you to muck up your program.

I work 3 days a week as an ED nurse and my schedule is all over the place. I use the scale in our triage after arriving for work about once every week and try not to ever weigh anywhere else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
