NovaLuna 710 Posted March 26, 2020 So, for the past few weeks I started feeling off, but I kinda just ignored it. Which was, admittedly, stupid. But now I'm so exhausted it's hard for me to get out of bed and even now I'm typing this from my bed. I'm fatigued, achy, have had on and off headaches, am paler than normal, and have had a few dizzy spells. So, yesterday I called my doctor and she ordered me a bunch of labs that I have to do because she's positive my Vitamin levels are off and she wants to find out which ones since many of them cause similar symptoms. She told me she'll call me on Monday with the results, but if things get worse go to the ER. I feel really stupid. I've had vitamin deficiencies before (specifically Vitamin D, B12, potassium, and Calcium) and should have realized that was what was wrong, but I thought it may have just been going back to work and getting back into the swing of things that was causing all the issues. Except my ignoring it just made it worse. I realize that malnutrition is a serious issue, especially with my surgery so I'm not really understanding why I was ignoring the signs. Anyway, I just want to know if anyone else had gone through the same thing? Is it hard to get back to the right balance? How long until I feel back to my normal self? 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
FluffyChix 17,415 Posted March 26, 2020 Are you sure you haven't been exposed to Covid? Those are also symptoms of it. 1 Cheeseburgh reacted to this

It's not Covid 19 because I'm a chronic asthmatic. It'd be in my lungs and my lungs are fine. I was told even before my surgery that I had an increased risk due to the malabsorptive nature of the surgery. I even have someone in my nutrition support group that had the same surgery and suffered chronic issues with his Vitamin levels to where not only was he hospitalized, but he ended up eventually having to have his intestines re-connected because of it. That's part of the reason I'm so mad at myself, because I KNOW better! Edited March 26, 2020 by NovaLuna
NovaLuna 710 Posted April 3, 2020 My doctor took most of the week off so she only got back to me today. Turns out it's a potassium deficiency. And, my thyroid has become underactive... again, even though I'm taking meds for it. Now she's going to have me double my thyroid meds and take a potassium supplement. But hey, at least I know now why I've been feeling like crap lately.
RSMKEM 18 Posted April 4, 2020 Glad to hear that you’re getting some answers! You haven’t specifically mentioned whether you’ve been taking Multivitamins, Calcium, Iron, etc. but remember that iron and calcium supplements can interfere with the absorption of some types of thyroid medication. Make sure that you’re not taking them at the same time. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hypothyroidism/expert-answers/hypothyroidism/faq-20058536
