I had a reaction like that to a surgical glue once. It was awful. I used hydrocortisone and it went away in a few days. Oral Benadryl too. Of course I'm not a surgeon so you should definitely get their opinion. But I have had his happen in a prior surgery and every other surgery since I told them I had this allergy and they used something else and I've had no issuws.

I was gonna say the same thing. You may be allergic to the glue. Have you contacted your surgeon’s office?

yep - it looks like you might be allergic to the surgical glue. I had that after my plastic surgery. Call your surgeon - they'll probably put you on something for it.

Oh no, I feel for you. I had the same problem, and it was an allergic reaction to the surgical tape I had on my incisions. I ended up going to the doctor for a steroid injection (I am also allergic to benadryl...) and felt better after a few days once the adhesive was off.

My first thought is that it's allergic reaction to either surgical glue or steri strips. From the pictures, it certainly looks that way.

However, we are not doctors. I recommend you call your doctor and let them know. Maybe even share your photos with them.

Thank you all, I had surgery 2/14. and the glue that they used was gone by 1.5 weeks. This developed at 4 weeks out. I sent the photos to my surgeons office because they are not seeing pt's. The nurse told me I'm allergic to my Vitamins. However if I was the rash would be everywhere not just around my incisions. So I went to urgent care Sunday, and got some steroids. it's helping a little.....

I did break out in hives during week 3 post=surgery. We thought it was the ursodiol, so they took me off it for a couple of weeks. The hives cleared up. Although when I got back on the ursodiol after a couple weeks off it, no hives - so I have no clue WHAT caused those hives...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
