asmith74 0 Posted March 22, 2020 Hello! My prealbumin is really low, to the point of severe edema. I can hardly walk. I've been increasing my Protein to as close to 150g/day as possible. Nothing's working. Anyone else have this issue??? Had DS in Sept. 2016.
JRT Mom 919 Posted March 22, 2020 Wow, I'd be getting hold of your surgeon asap. That much Protein is bound to be hard on your kidneys. Are you getting enough zinc, B12, B1 and folic acid? It might be a Vitamin or mineral deficiency that might make it harder for you to absorb the protein you eat.
asmith74 0 Posted March 22, 2020 I see him Wednesday. My B Vitamins are good. I was slightly low in zinc but taking a supplement. Regular albumin was fine but the prealbumin was really low.

catwoman7 11,220 Posted March 23, 2020 I have to have 100+ grams a day or my prealbumin level tanks, but if yours is still tanking at 150+ grams, then yes, let your surgeon know (he may notice that on your bloodwork)
