I had just turned 46 and my wife is 43 when we were banded on 9/12/07 and 9/19/07. I Had been thinking about gastric bypass over 5 years but when I heard about the band I felt that this was the best for both of us. Glad we both got the band. Wish we both could have gotten the band when it first came out.

I was 40, but if I had known about it sooner, I would have done it sooner.

I am 20, and was just banded a few weeks ago. It was hard though, for over a year I had to prove to my doctors that I wanted this, because they were concerned that I was very young.

If I had known about the lap band I would have tried to have it years ago! Unfortunately, I only recently learned about it from a co-worker who had it back in January and has already lost 121 pounds. She looks great, but most importantly, FEELS great. She had major knee and health problems before, and had knee surgery at least once that I know of. When I ran into her in the elevator a few weeks ago she told me about her lap band, and re-assured me that the lap band is minimally invasive, doesn't involve cutting of the intestines at all, and is both adjustable and reversible. Once she told me that, I was sold! So I've since attended an educational seminar with her surgeon (who is actually performing the procedure on another of our co-workers on Monday) and have a consultation with him on Wednesday. Here's hoping I can get this approved with my insurance company! (They both did, so I'm confident I will, but I'll probably have to do a six-month doctor-supervised diet/exercise program first.)

Um, yeah, that was long, but hey. It's my first post. =) To sum up, I'm 31 now and finally looking into it. Hopefully I'll still be 31 when I manage to have the actual surgery!!! Wish I'd known about it sooner.

I was 30 when I was banded, and I had been looking into it for about a year.

I was 63 when banded on the suggestion of the surgeon I saw about gall bladder removal. At the moment I am 12 weeks after the op and still not had my 1st fill. The after care at the Liverpool hospital needs sorting out. I have lost 19lb but that is due to willpower and gym each weekday.

I'm 67 and will start 2008 with a new leash on life. I'm getting my band on Dec. 31st. I wish this would of be around 40 years ago. But then I would of been to pig headed to try, so now I can finally control a life long problem. My Problem is too much food, if a little is good more is better.

17 when I considered bypass, 22 when I heard about lap-band and decided to get it.. 23 when I got it.

But I know for a fact, if we knew about the band and/or it was around when I was 10 (or any teen age), my mom would have signed for me to get it then.
