I’m so sorry to hear about the cancellation. I know you are bummed. Sending positive vibes your way! I hope this mess is over soon so all of you who have been postponed can move ahead with your surgeries. In the meantime, you can indeed stay on your journey and prepare more for even better success!! My surgery was postponed almost two months and looking back now I see it was a blessing in disguise. I used that time to really prepare myself for this and get even healthier before surgery. Wishing you well on your continued journey ❤️

Ive had sort of the same thing happen for surgery on my foot. My thoughts are to take the same pre-surgery steps but just a little bit longer. For my foot, it's still getting out there walking, but for WLS it might be working on a 1500-2000 calorie diet. There are so many things we can do given the right mindset. Ive seen so many people out walking recently and even the New York Times has mentioned an upswing in people running.

I'm so sorry you have to wait longer, BUT....on the UP side, you have more time to lose weight before surgery on the "shrink the liver" diet. I'm told that doing this makes the surgeon's job easier....and that of course is a good thing.

So sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how disappointed you must be. Hang in there, though, and hopefully you will resume your journey soon!

I was due to have my gallbladder removed today, and it got cancelled at 3.15pm yesterday. I was upset for a while, although I understood that coronavirus patients had to be prioritised.

On the plus side, I had to do a liver shrinking diet for 5 days, and I lost 5 lbs. 😊

GOOD FOR YOU!!

I found that before my surgery and being on the "Shrink Your Liver" diet I lost weight faster than I am now post-surgery. Go figure!!

Me too! But my bari-team assures me that is perfectly normal, and the average weight loss post surgery is about 10 lbs a month.

10 pounds a month I could do without surgery. BUT I guess the difference is that the surgery won't LET you go off your diet without suffering for it.

Best

The second liver-shrinking diet has done me a favour, because my weight loss had sort of bottomed-out, 19 months after the sleeve. It's a boost in troubled times!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
