Unfortunately the media is whipping everyone up into a "The Sky is falling..!" scenario. Yes, this is a critical event and everyone needs to pay attention but the CDC is the "subject matter experts" on this one, we don't need the talking heads from our news media to provide us with their opinions, seems everyone in the news is now a viral infection expert. I wish they would simply REPORT the news, don't try to create it.

People are getting the idea that they will be locked in their homes for weeks and need to stock up on basic supplies. I saw a guy last week at SAMS Club with 10 large 24-roll packs, either this guy has a LARGE family or he has other "issues" that we will not discuss on this forum ;)

Stay informed, stay safe...

I feel a little bad having 300 rolls in my storage. I buy large packs when they are on sale, so I only buy TP about 2 times a year:P Last time was febuary.

I normally shop in bulk for the essentials, be it household and food items. I shop quarterly and I don't like to not have my needs or for my grandson and his mom. It's not affordable for me to shop monthly, I save money when I shop quarterly and my only weekly or biweekly expenses are for perishable items. I need to quarterly shop for paper goods next month and this a disaster.

Hahaha I’ve been wondering the SAME THING!!!!!! I’m like “these people need to stock up on food instead of toilet paper!”

There is a real reason: People are not using “commercial” toilet paper because they aren’t going to work, restaurants, schools etc.. therefore not using the restrooms at those establishments. Increase in home bathroom use has skyrocketed and supply has not caught up to demand yet.

“I can’t give you an exact number, but I will tell you we’re making more than ever,” said Arist Mastorides, president of family care for Kimberly-Clark North America, maker of Cottonelle toilet paper and other paper products. “It’s a significant amount to cover what we think will be used with people traveling less and staying home more.”

That’s part of the problem right now – not just hoarding and not because people are going to the bathroom more than normal. It’s also because so many consumers are going to the bathroom in different locations from before the pandemic – at home instead of workplaces, which often use a different kind of toilet paper than used at home.”

We are living in strange times. In Va Beach TP, garlic, bok choy cabbage, ground beef, flour , and yeast are hard to find. I've had good luck ordering TP & paper towels for shipment to my door from Wal-Mart & Amazon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
