I had a RNY gastric bypass 20 years ago. I tried edibles to stop drinking wine because of high calorie content. The problem is they take 4 hours to kick in. Does anyone else have this problem? If so have you figured out a way for edibles to work faster?

OK, I bet I'm going to get super judged for this but... is there a reason you can't smoke a j?

Not really a way to speed up that process unless you have more of a coconut oil type edible that gets ingested faster. Edibles can be tricky. I have no issues hitting the peace pipe either but im not suggesting anything. Thats just me. But i also started the day i came home .

I've got some Gummy edibles from before my RNY that I'm kinda afraid to try. There's no nutritional info on the package so I don't know how much sugar is in them. And I had gotten used to how much to eat and the timeline of when they would kick in before surgery and that's up in the air now. And I don't even wanna think about dumping while high--talk about a buzzkill!

I’ve had the bypass 17 yrs ago. I was 275lbs and in my late 50’s. I am now 75 and am 163 lbs. when I had the surgery, my doc took out my gall bladder also. I’ve tried edibles and nothing works!

I’ve made Cana butter and cana oil from the recipes in books. I made brownies with good weed.
made cakes that floored my friends, me, nothing! After way too much waste of good flower, I give up. I think I just can’t absorb the good stuff🤔

Just a tip: don’t over do the Calcium and d3 Vitamins. Too much over the yrs messed with my kidneys and I had and have terrible stones. My kidneys aren’t 100% since.

I love smoking and I do love the smell too. Problem is, that at 75 yrs old, I’d like to save my lungs! last yr I had tiny nodes on my lungs but they were very small and didn’t get larger So if I try not to smoke too much. I have an addictive personality as most over weight people and tend to smoke every night. Besides the cost, the cough messes with my allergies. Haven’t tried the 𝐆𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐬 since it’s illegal in Florida but I have a medical card.

I never liked edibles, I preferred to inhale and exhale. I also liked the sensation of smoking, oral fixation and etc., it comes down to preference. Edibles didn't allow me enough control of my high and it also felt different from the high I obtained from smoking. I have edibles that someone bought me for my birthday last year, I've been giving them away to my friends who do partake in edibles.

If it takes 4 hours for you to experience the high from edibles, indulge before you are actually ready to feel the effects. It may take some planning, but you can make it work for you.

Why are gummies illegal in Florida if you have a med card? Have you tried a vape since you have problem with the flower ?

I haven't found many edibles that do anything for me. I did have a Gummy last week that I did feel. However, the other day I made "banana" muffins and they don't do much for me.

A friend of mine made butter and I made Cookies and they were very potent, I was surprised. Hopefully our dispensaries will be open in July and we can get some good edibles.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
