Spanking

Recommended Posts

Well said, Kat!

To answer the question though, you are darned right that I am pro-choice and anti-spanking. I honestly believe that I value life more than most people. I believe that babies are far too important than to treat them like a commodity, passed from one parent to another. I am not anti-adoption, but I sure wouldn't encourage anyone to give their child up. I believe adoption can be a wonderful thing and I also believe that it can turn out quite badly. It should not be treated as a basis for a law that requires every woman to bear every child in each and every case without exception.

As for how it relates to spanking - it goes hand in hand as far as I'm concerned. The more informed and experienced I become in my life, the easier it is for me to understand these things.

you can't be pro choice AND value life. What a contradiction. If you felt that babies were so important, like you say, you wouldn't believe in abortion. (another contradiction)

Every child should be a wanted child. It is much less likely to be an abused child if it is wanted.

Every child should be a wanted child. It is much less likely to be an abused child if it is wanted.

Statistics don't bear that out. Children who are abused are more often planned than not. And whether a child is planned at the time of conception or initially "wanted" doesn't necessarily mean he or she won't be wanted as he or she grows.

Furthermore, if abortion cured child abuse, we'd have no child abuse. Instead, child abuse has grown dramatically since the Supreme Court decided abortion can't be illegal. My opinion is that when we devalue life in the womb, we naturally don't hold it in esteem outside of the womb either.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
