Rose57 7 Posted March 9, 2020 Curious as to how long the surgery takes. Thanks.
RickM 1,752 Posted March 10, 2020 I can't quite remember how long my wife's was, but I think that it is usually in the 2-3 hour range but can be much longer (6-8 hours) if a patient presents complications (extremely obese, lots of prior surgeries leaving adhesions, etc.) Also, some docs do other associated procedures along with the DS, like gall bladder and/or appendix removal. NovaLuna 710 Posted March 10, 2020 I had the Loop Duodenal Switch and my surgery was about an hour and a half. I went in at 8am and my family came in to see me in recovery around 11. So it was pretty quick for me and I had no complications. Hope that answers your question...

plain.sight 20 Posted March 10, 2020 I had SIPS laproscopically and it was about 2.5 hours. They book the room for much longer just in case there are any complications that come up, but it's not as long as you would think.
LMH41 4 Posted March 17, 2020 Mine was 5.5 hours as a revision but that was due to excessive scar tissue from other surgeries.
